A licence is required by law to operate a snowmobile in Ontario. The Training Course is being given for a modest fee, to be paid at the time of registration. For further information phone 985-7824. Charlie Harper, Area Instructor By David Bruce The rematch between these two top teams proved to be the most exciting game all season. Both teams came out hustling and maintained the pace for a full sixty minutes, with the outcome decided only in the last minutes of the third period. Port Perry opened the scoring only 2:05 into the first with John Michel dribbling a soft shot between Peterborough goalie John Bourgeois' pads for his first of the night. Colin Stone tied it up for Peterborough at 10:17 while standing unat- terided at the goal mouth, tipping in David Payne's shot from the point past a surprised Rob Michel. Willie Houthuys lifted Larry Mabley's rebound high over Bourgeois' left shoulder at the 15:21 mark to put Port in front by a 2 to 1 count. Peterborough's Wayne Gamble scored the only goal of the second period, on a _ solo rush, cutting in front of the Port Perry defence from right to left, and firing a partial screen shot past Port netminder Rob Michel. Port Perry Missed a golden opportunity to go ahead in the third with a one man advantage for 4:10 and a two man advantage for 1:50. The first penalized Peterborough player felt Dave Harris had drawn his and a teammate's tripping penalties with a fine ex- hibition of = diving. The second man in the box claim- ed he had no idea why he was sitting off. Sure guys. Unconverted chances were the story of the third as the play opened up and both goal tenders were tested often. - Bert Michel, who scored the winner against Peterbor- ough in the last meeting of these two teams, continued his late-game dramatics by taking a pass off the face off from brother John, moving out in front and firing through a crowd for the winner at 16:57 of the final frame. But with added 'pressure by Peterborough, Port could not relax until John Michel put the game out of reach with :21 left to play. ~~ By far Port Perry's tough- est game of the season, Peterborough has proved they will be tough competi- tion all season." Good, solid team efforts and positional entertainment right until the final buzzer. The calibre of play was so fine that only John Bourgeois could be classified as a standout, holding the teams even until the final minutes. A better turnout this time added to the adrenaline flow of the players, as should be the case next Saturday when Port meets Little Britain in their home arena, at six o'clock. This initial confron- tation of these two teams this season should prove to be an interesting contest. Come out and cheer the guys on! good nutrition ages.
