Seniors observe Remembrance Day by Marion King A large crowd attended the November 14th meeting of Senior Citizens at Latchem Centre. Our annual obser- vance of Remembrance for those who died that we might live in freedom, was the inspiration for the patriotic decorations of the hall. The business of the day was followed by a programme dedicated to those who went to war. Readings and poems by members, and a sing-song down memory lane, was recéived with hearty enthu- siasm by the audience. Refreshments were served by the November convenors, and then the tables were set up for euchre. Watch out for our King and lovely Queen of 1979, Ernie Healy and Jessie Robertson as they ride in the Santa Claus Parade. We extend a hearty welcome to all senior citizens who would like to join us. One of our seniors who lives on the lakeshore near Port, reported she got the 'surprise of her life Sunday morning November 11th, when she saw a full antlered 'buck swimming across the lake towards the south end of the Island. Others who witnessed this said he scrambled out into the bush. Let's hope he didn't catch a cold swim- ming in the icy waters. What a wonderfuF little town we live in, where such things are seen.
