For Christ was born that glorious morn, Unto him we shall pray. With a shining star upon the tree, And the stockings all hung high, The children sit with smiles of glee, Awaiting their surprise. But something starts to happen, There's a funny sort of shock, When Santa's whip starts snappen, When it's almost o'clock. The carollers begin their singing, On that bright and snowy Eve, And the chimes of bells start ringing, When flying in comes Santa, the children's make-believe. twelve Carol Lewerentz Cartwright Central P.S. Grade 8, Age 13 ONE DECEMBER"S NIGHT The sky is dark and bleak, All that surrounds is a crystal white. Glittering icicles hang from above, Sparkling in the noon's bright light. Fluffy, white snowflakes fall in the night, Slowly drifting down to earth Making all that surrounds, A sight to behold. The trees are all covered in a mystical white, Their branches, all bent down. Mother Nature's not fooling us now, December has arrived at last! By Julie Veldman Cartwright Central P.S. THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS On the night before Christ- mas we were on the run, Hoping that Santa would soon come, Up went the tree, on went the lights, Twinkling very brightly on that cool winter night, The cat and the rat were sitting together, On my dad's brand new sweater, My little sister lay down her head, And told my mom that she was ready for bed, My dad and I were working together, Changing the ornaments to make the tree look better. Darren Frank WHAT CHRISTMAS ISTO ME What does Christmas mean to you? Gifts and toys and candy? Not all this for me, For Christmas Christ. He was born in Bethlehem Not in a royal house In a stable manger lay he, Near his mother, Mary. Joseph, dad, knelt over him, Letting many shepherds in The big, bright star shone over, To lead three.
