The Forder Selects have had 6 busy and well played games since Dec. 22 and to top off their effort they returned to Port as Consola- tion Champs of the Orono Tournament - Well done team. Mark Kendall and Kevin Cearns played well between the pipes and shared the well earned shut-out. Port picked up 6 minutes in penalties. Dec. 23rd the Selects took on the Bowmanville Toros. This was an excellent game on behalf of both teams, end to end all the way. At the final whistle Bowmanville was on top of the 2 to 1 score. Port's only marker was picked up by Brad Traves assisted by Andrew Steele. Dec. 30 the Forder Selects hosted a hard hitting team from Orono. What a game! Each team gave 100 percent. First Port would score, then Orono would tie it up. The game was decided at the final whistle when Orono was called for interference and Port was awarded a penalty shot. Final score 6-5 for the Bantam A's edge Toros by two by Danny Millar Port Perry Bantam A's carried on a winning streak that had started two weeks earlier when they tripled the Toros of Bowmanville 3-1 in Port Perry on Wednesday, Dec. 19. Jeff Johnstone contributed to all three goals with assists. The first period was a scoreless one iff which Port Perry held a slight edge in play despite not scoring. It was hard hitting but clean. The aggressiveness continu- ed in the second period when Steve Lee was hammered in the Toro end at 1:20. He was taken out of the game and did not return to action. He appeared on the team bench in street clothes in the last period. He played in a tournament a week later so apparently was not seriously shaken up. \ os TAL) 0 The second period was controlled by the goalkeep- ers. Toros had two excellent chances during a Port Perry penalty but Ken Harman held them at bay. Scott Bate made another superb stop at the other end of the rink when he foiled Howard Lee. Port managed to beat Bate with 4:08 left in the period on a pass from the corner of the net to Jamie Lane in front. Lane flipped in a quick shot. Bowmanville tied the score with 1:55 left with both teams playing five aside. Scott Richards let go a slap shot from outside the face- off circle that Harman was screened on. Vaughn McKee, a burly defenceman, put Port ahead to stay with his third period goal. Lane and Johnstone assisted. Russ Jones put in the insurance marker with 3:14 left PINAR EA 0 4 ie Selects.
