Ken Edwards, president of Rideau Demolition says it will be about three weeks Queen and Water Streets is levelled. Armed with sledge hammers and wrecking bars the work crew last week was busy ripping apart the interior walls and partitions on the top two floors, and by the end of this week, Mr. Edwards says the roof will likely be off. The brick walls will then be torn down a storey at a time. He added that the building poses no problems from a demolition point of view, but a wrecking ball will not be used to knock down the walls because of the close proximity of other buildings, and traffic on Water and Queen Streets. "don't Mr. Edwards said that little of the building is worth salvaging, other than some of the pine boards used for flooring and a few of the exterior bricks, a kind which have a lot of commercial value. Once the old building is down, work on the new bank is expected to start before the brick building at immediately. } ® i ol g | hx : _ 0) ¢ IK Workers rip out a staircase on the second floor.
