Ringette play against Council Contribute to well worth project by Bev Raines The Ronald McDonald House is a place within walking distance of the Sick Children's Hospital in Toronto for families of children with leukemia or other cancer-related diseases to stay during the treatment of their child. . On Thursday, Feb. 7th, our Ringette Girls from ages 7-18 participated in this unselfish deed. They had the pleasure and fun of playing Ringette against the Township Council and they were able to raise $50.16 for the Ronald McDonald House. This amount included a generous donation from the Council. The little girls from the Ringette School stole the show when they performed Oshawa defeat Tweens by Pat Armstrong A total of 25 direct shots were put to our goalie Heather Muir on Sunday when our Chris Allen Aluminum Tweens went to Oshawa for their game. Letting only 5 of the 25 shots slip by her, Heather played an absolutely super game. Being a first year Ringette player, Heather's improve- ment since the first of the year is fantastic. Still not quite strong enough to whip Oshawa our Tweens are steadily closing the margin. Final score on Sunday being 5-3. Embarrassed to no end the Oshawa goalie gave us our first goal of the day. Cathy Armstrong getting the 2 remaining goals unassisted played very hard also. The girls as a whole are starting to really look like they mean business. Be prepared because once they get it just right and win their first game there will be no stopping them. against the Council. They scored 1 out of the 6 goals that the girls scored total. The score was tied up until the last 27 seconds of the game when the Council came out on top with a score of 7. The Tweens sponsored by Chris Allen Aluminum, the Juniors sponsored by Ives Florists Ltd., and the Belles, sponsored by the Children's Boutique each had two lines to play in the game. ~ We would like to thank the Council for contributing to Ringette and supporting our girls by coming out as a team to show that a girl's game can be exciting.
