The minutes of the last meeting were read by Anna Spencley and Lynn Warne presented the Treasurer's Report. It has been decided that members of the Guild will take part in making a Signature Quilt. A discussion was held regarding the establishment of dates for this year's Fall Festival of Crafts. It was finally resolved that a decision on the dates for the two-day sale will be made at the March meeting. Following a short break for coffee and delicious home-baked cookies and, squares, the ladies gathered into groups to work on projects brought from their homes; lovely examples of needlepoint, crewel, bunka and bargello - inspirational and impressive displays. The next two regular Wednesday meetings of the Potpourri Handicraft Guild and the Workshop will be held on March 5th and March 19th respectively, both at 8 p.m., at Town Hall 1873. New members welcome. R.H. Cornish News by Kelly Storry ° & Kristy Armour The Junior Girls volleyball team has been practising hard the last few weeks. They played their first match last Monday and were defeated by Cartwright three games to two. The grade 7 boys and girls volleyball teams took part in tournaments in Ajax and Sunderland. The Grade 8 boys basket- ball team defeated Cart- wright. The Grade 8 girls basketball team defeated Sunderland and Cartwright and lost to Joseph Gould and Uxbridge. Mr. Justynski will soon be selecting the Grade 7 boys basketball team. Miss Reed has started a drama club for grades 4, 5 and six. The yearbook literary contest is still accepting entries until February, 11. The prizes will be frée year- books. 7 The second schedule of curling run by Mr. Smart has now started which is on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Backgammon Club still meets on Monday at noon. Seagrave news by Jackie Boyle The first communion service of the year was celebrated last Sunday at the Seagrave United Church. Many Happy Returns to Jamie Hillis who contributed his pennies to our birthday box. The Seagrave U.C.W. will meet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Tobin on Wed. Feb. 13th at 8 p.m. Please bring your - birthday collection. All ladies are welcome to attend this meeting. The Junior Farmers will hold their Church Service in Pinedale United Church on Sunday, Feb. 24th at 7:30 p.m. All are invited to attend this service. The Greenbank-Seagrave Scout and Brownie Associ- ation will join with the Seagrave Congregation in their service of worship on Sunday, Feb. 24th at 10 a.m. to honour the memory of their founder, Lord Baden Powell. Parents are asked to please have their money turned in to the group leader before Feb. 19. The Seagrave Brownies Unit had their preliminary baking competition last Tuesday. The competition was ably judged by Mrs. Gerty Wanamaker and Mrs. Joyce Abraham. Many thanks for your services ladies. Congratulations to the winner from the Unit and to all those who took part. The winners will be taking part in the District Baking Competition on March 1st at the Seagrave Church. Many undertakings by your Seagrave Parks Association in- 1979 were successfully accomplished. The biggest priority for 1980 is completion of the tennis courts. Other proposals for this year are included in your newsletter. In order to accomplish their goals, a membership drive is now being conducted. Cost per family will be five dollars. A park representative will be calling on you sometime this month.
