The Port Perry United Church was the setting for the marriage of Donna Lyn Wallace and William Dale McQuade in a double ring ceremony on Thanksgiving weekend, October 6, 1979. Rev. R. Brawn officiated. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Donald Wallace of Seagrave. The groom is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Stewart McQuade of Port Perry. Given in marriage by her father, the bride looked radiant in a full length gown of white chiffon over taffeta with deep lace cuffs. The bodice had lace appliques with tiny seed pearls and a cameo inset. The gown also featured a high neckline. Her head piece of lace and seed pearls held her finger- tip veil of silk illusion with lace appliques. She carried a bouquet of sweetheart burgundy and pink roses, white stephanotis and baby's breath. The maid of honour was Sharon Wallace, Seagrave, sister of the bride. Brides- maids were Kerry Wilson, Oshawa; Cheryl Sweetman, Bowmanville; Margo Bagg, Port Perry; all friends of the bride and Lori Owen, Oshawa, cousin of the bride. The bridesmaids were identically gowned in cherry burgundy Quiana high neck- line, tulip dresses layered over flowing floor length skirts. The attendants carried trailing cascades of pink and white roses and wore pink rose and baby's breath hair combs. Little Miss Kimberly Oke of Caladon, cousin of the groom was flowergirl. Ushers were Alan Faux, Port Perry; Dean Abraham, Seagrave; Brian Hlozen, Port Perry; all friends of the groom and Scott Wallace, Seagrave, brother of the bride. The groom wore a striking black tuxedo and was complimented by his ushers in two-tone gray tuxedo's. The brides mother re- ceived the guests in a full length gown of dusty rose silk polyester. The groom's mother wore a full length gown of Quiana in pale blue. Both ladies The United Church, Seagrave was 'he setting for the wedding of Diane Barr and Miles Knutson, on November 17, 1979. The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William Barr of Seagrave, Ontario and the KNUTSON-BARR and burgundy roses. The wedding reception and dance was held at the Port Perry Curling Club immediately following the ceremony. The bride and groom left amid showers of good wishes for a honeymoon at a resort in Lake Placid, New York. Prior to her marriage the bride was honoured with several showers from friends and relatives. The groom was enter- tained with a stag attended by friends and family prior to his marriage. The happy couple are now residing at 1303 Giffard Street, Whitby, Ontario. groom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Clarence Knutson of Wetaskiwin, Alberta. After their honeymoon in Florida, the couple returned to Edmonton, Alberta where they now reside. The marriage of Sandra Jean Bray of Tyler, Texas, form- erly of Port Perry and Ric- hard Lee Ladd of Tyler, Texas, took place Saturday, Septem- ber 15, 1979 at Shiloh Road Church of Christ in Tyler, Texas. Rev. Mike Warner officiated * the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bray, Port Perry. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ladd of Chandler, Texas. For the double-ring cere- mony, the bride wore a white polyester satin, semi-fitted layered dress. The bodice featured a round neckline, standing collar and was out- lined by tiny pearls. Chan- tilly lace accented the full length sleeves and attached chapel length train. She wore a wide brimmed hat with a veil to compliment her dress. Penny Yarbrough of Tyler, Texas was maid of honour. Bridesmaids were Betty Bray of Port Perry, sister of the bride; Debbie Averitt, Sharon Roberts and Cathy Gay, all of Tyler, Texas. Best man was Don Hinton of Portageville, Mo. Grooms- men were Bill Ladd of Port- ageville, Mo., brother of the groom; Mitch Ellison of New Madrid, Mo.; John Loftis of White Oak and Walter Welch of Portageville, Mo. Lloyd Tacket of Tyler, Texas and Ronnie Ladd of Kilgore, Texas, brother of the groom seated guests. Niece and nephew of the groom, Jessie Williams and Luke Ladd were flower girl and ring bearer. A reception followed in the church. After a wedding trip to Dallas, Texas, the couple will live in Tyler, Texas. MALCOLM - CONNOLLY Yelverton United Church was the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday, December 15th, 1979 at 5:30 p.m. when Carrie Jane Connolly became the bride of Harvey Martell (Marti) Malcolm. Dr. E.E. Joblen of Lindsay was assisted by our Yelverton minister Mr. Arthur Rodgers of Janet- ville. The bride is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Connolly of Bobcay- geon and Marti is the only son of Corrie and Harvey Malcolm of Yelverton. The capable pianist for the happy occasion was a cousin of the groom Mrs. Mark (Kathy) Malcolm of Janetville. The bride, given in marriage by her parents Helen and Peter Connolly was escorted by her father with the matron of honour, a life-long friend - Jackie Hanna of Toronto and bridesmaid Julie Connolly, Rochester, New York. 'The bride was pretty in a white full length nylon lace gown over tafetta, with a full length belled sleeves, high rise neckline and empire waist. A matching lace waist-length veil comple- mented the dress. The bride carried a bouquet of burgundy and pink car- nations, white daisies and baby's breath. The matron of honour and bridesmaids were similarly attired in burgundy jersey full length gowns with matching georgetti over- blouse and they carried bouquets of pink and white carnations and baby's breath. The groom was supported by his tirsc cousin Jay PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed., February 13, 1980 -- 33 LADD-BRAY / % Jo SW Malcolm who also assisted Henry Carkner in the capa- city of usher. During the ceremony Mrs. Pauline Effer assisted by Kathy Malcolm on the piano sang the Lord's Prayer and later during the signing of the Reg.ster provided two lovely solos - "*Always" and *"The Wedding Song" which contributed a great deal to the ceremony. The Reception was held in Nestleton Community Hall with 125 guests present for a delicious roast beef dinner served by Mrs. H. Lee and assistants. Mr. Ralph Malcolm, uncle of the groom, in the capacity of Toastmaster handled the duties most effectively with gregarious good nature, humour and wit. Mr. Donald Skinkle, uncle of Jane's proposed a Toast to the Bride which was answered by Marti with a surprising gift of oratory never previously displayed in public as he also proposed a toast to the bridesmaids. Mr. Peter Connolly and Harvey Malcolm each spoke briefly in their respective capacities as parenis expressing their pleasures at the additions to their fami- lies of a new son and daugh- ter-in-law. Following the wedding dinner, the balance of the evening was pleasantly spent in dancing to suitable music supplied courtesy of long time friends of Marti and Jane - D.J.'s Robert and Chris Burns of Janetville - a gesture much appreciated by the newlyweds. Following (heir brief honeymoon, the newlyweds will reside east of Yelverton on 7A Highway at the former James Sheckleton residence. Jane. prior to her marriage was a dental assistant in Don Mills and Marti is a General Hardware Super- visor at the Lindsay Branch of U.C.O. Out of Town guests in- cluded friends and relatives _ from Toronto and Missis- sauga, Mrs. Ray Werry and family from Sudbury, as well as other friends from the ~. Nickle City, friends from Brighton, Barrie. Kingston. Oshawa, Newcastle, and many local centres. Prior to the wedding Jane was the recipient of Bridal Showers at Pickering and Don Mills. Marti was reci- pient of a stag party near Bethany. The newlyweds received a lovely array of wedding presents.
