Oshawa played very well checking and skating and the Port Perry girls just weren't on the ball. Oshawa beat us 8'to 1. The lone goal was Armstrong, a Tween, who helped us out that day. On Feb. 9, 1980 Port Perry Ives played Oshawa 1 team. Port Perry just never seem- ed to get on track. Oshawa won 5 to 1 and the score would have been higher if it weren't for our goalie Michelle Andrews. Lone goal scored by Janice Jack- man assisted by Trish Le Fort. On Feb. 10, 1980 Port Perry Ives travelled to Oshawa to play their number 2 team. Port Perry skated well and checked well but to no avail. Oshawa came out on top 5-2. Scoring for Port, Janice Jackman, unassisted and Lori Ann Larabie assisted by Debbie Warriner. Michelle Andrews was excellent in nets stopping many shots. by Pat Armstrong Sunday's Tween Chris Allen Aluminum sponsored game was totally dominated by the hard playing Fowler girls. Renee Fowler getting the first goal shortly after the game started. Assist was given to Kelly Raines, one of the older more experienced players. The second goal was gotten by Renee's sister, Kelly. Being an unassisted goal, Kelly worked very hard for this well deserved goal. Ad *% } 7 Er scored by Cathy - Although the final outcome of the game was 9-2 for Oshawa, the Port Tweens played a very strong game. by Joy Thompson The Children's Boutique Belle Bombers hosted Pickering on Saturday, Feb. 16, and lost a well played game 5-2. Sherri Allen and Karen Young scored for Port with assists to Paula Haugen, Sherri Allen and Wendy MacDougall. Sports- manlike award to Cindi Heurkins for her outstand- ing efforts for our team. Sunday, for a return match in Pickering, we were bombed 12-0. Short 4 players 3 of them defensemen, the girls were called upon to play unfamiliar positions and gave 180 per cent where- ever and whenever asked to take a shift. When a collision caused one of the girls to sit' out, our goalie on the bench was quickly sent out to fill in on defense. Special mention to Val Kraupa for her excel- lent play in both games with Pickering. Atom Action by Doreen Kendall Friday, Feb. 15th the Don Forder Insurance Atom Selects played host to the Uxbridge Selects. Both teams were very evenly matched and played end to end hockey. At the sound of the whistle the Don Forder Selects were on top of the 1-0 score. Scoring the only goal of the evening saw Andrew Steele find the mark with an un- assisted marker. Sunday afternoon our boys had an excellent practice followed by birthday cake and soft drinks in honour of coach Wayne Venning and manager Keith Beere. Congratulations and best wishes to both these fine gentlemen from the team and all the parents. Our next home game is Sat. Feb. 23rd at 6:30 p.m. We hope you can join us. The Port Atoms hosted Ajax Minor A team in an exhibition game on Friday, Feb. 15, 1980. Port came out on top by a score of 7-6. Scoring for Port : Brad Menzies from Blair Phillips; Ray Daniels unassisted; David Burnett from John Lally; Robbie Baker unassisted; Steven Durham from Robbie Baker; and Robbie Baker from John Harman. Steven Durham and Ray Daniels played well for the Port team. The Malmont Farms Atoms will be participating in their home tournament on Saturday Feb. 23rd. The Atom All Stars would appreciate the support of anyone wishing to see these talented young hockey players perform.
