Let's hope the love shown on this special day is spread generously throughout the year. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wanamaker were taken by surprise Saturday evening when sons Neil, Ron and Bill, wives and families gathered to honour them on the occasion of their 45th Wedding Anniversary at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wanamaker. Included at the dinner party were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wanamaker, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Martyn and Mr. and Mrs. Allan Martyn. Bert and Gertie's nieces and nephews joined in the festive time later in the evening. On behalf of our community I would like to congratulate Bert and Gertie and you have our sincerest best wishes for many more years of happiness together. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Durward hosted an old fashioned sleigh ride for some Seagravers Saturday night. By all reports it was a fun evening and many thanks to Joan and Earl for the good time. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puckrin on the birth of their new grand- daughter born on Valentine's Day in Port Perry Hospital. A beautiful solo, 'I see the Melanie Lee accompanied by her mother Joan on the organ added much to the Sunday morning Church service. Our thanks to this lovely little lady for a job well done. A contribution to the Birthday Box was made by Mrs. Helen Ingram. Happy Birthday Helen and also to Mrs. Betty Somerville and Mr. Keith Puckrin. The Lindsay Presbytery will meet .at Cambridge United Church, Lindsay on Wed. Feb. 20th at 3:00 p.m. A coffee hour is planned for Wednesday morning Feb. 27th at 10 a.m. in the Sunday School Room. Mr. Bill Slute will give a slide presentation and lead a discussion on gardening. Everyone is invited to come and baby- sitting is provided. You are bound to spring home anxious to start an early garden. Hope to see you there. A meeting for the women of the community is planned for Monday night Feb. 25 at 8:15 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Beacock. This meeting will include a toy drive in aid of the nursery at Church. Master Craig Rogerson from Sudbury visited the Puckrin families over the weekend. A number of children enjoyed the film presenta- tion at Church Wednesday afternoon. Our thanks to the committee of Mrs. Marilyn Beacock, Mrs. Maxine Lavereau, and Mrs. Liz Smith for making popcorn, drinks and clean up after- wards. Mr. and Mrs. Don Beacock attended the 55th Wedding Anniversary dinner party of Mr. and Mrs. John Sweet- man of Scugog at Emiel's Restaurant last week. The U.C.W. are holding a euchre party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunter on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Some of our Seagrave heros aided Mariposa Hockey Team at a tourna- ment Saturday and Sunday in Beaverton arena. Not winners here they went on to play their 6 league game Sunday night and won over Oakwood 7-6. The Greenbank and Seagrave Scout and Brownie Association will join with the - Seagrave congregation in their service of worship next Sunday Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. to honour the memory of their former founder Lord Baden Powell. There will be no Sunday School next week. The Sunday School classes are invited to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Durward's Sunday March 2 for a sleigh ride after church. The children will eat lunch at the church first. Hot dogs will be provided but each family is asked to bring a finger dessert. Mrs. Gertie Wanamaker was in charge of the devotional with the assistance of Mrs. McNeil and Mrs. Ila Keen. "Gertie chose Love as her theme in--- keeping with Valentine's Day. The President Mrs. McNeil took charge of the business. Reports were given by the various committees. Several projects were discussed, one on an upcoming euchre, also a St. Patrick's supper. Gertie conducted a couple of Valentine contests which everyone enjoyed. Then the meeting closed with the Mizpah benediction. Lunch was served by the hostess then all returned home, after a very success- ful evening. Seagrave 4-H Club by Cathy Carr The Seagrave 4-H Club has started their spring unit. The unit is titled Food For Friends. The club name is Seagrave Super Chefs. The president of this unit is Connie Carr, vice-president is Angie Stone and the treasurer is Casey Jones. In this unit the girls will learn how to save energy by "using their small kitchen appliances properly. Chinese Style Pork was the recipe they made at their first meeting. The appliance that was used is called a (FEATURE wok. The stir-fry method was used to cook the ingredients. The results were delicious and the Chinese Style Port was enjoyed by all who tasted it. The next meeting will be held at Mrs. Belair's home.
