Pleased to hear that Olive Frayer, Caesarea was able to return home from hospital this past Thursday. Nestleton friends extend deepest sympathy to Margaret Roy of Toronto, in the passing of her husband William J. Roy at East General Hospital on Satur- day. The funeral was from Giffen Mack Funeral Home on Monday last. Many folks within the Nestleton area will remember Margaret well who was formerly McCabe of Cadmus. Caesarea Euchre A good attendance was on hand Wednesday evening at the Caesarea Centre and the high scores were won by 1-Robert France, 2-Maxine McMillan, 3-Georgie McClean. Next Wed. even- ing as usual at the Centre at 8 p.m. Nestleton United Church On Sunday, Feb. 24th although the weather wasn't inviting a fairly good attend- ance at the service. Members of the congrega- tion were pleased to welcome to the service on the first Sunday in Lent, Rev. _T. Rex Norman, District Secretary of the Canadian Bible Society for the Bay of Quinte Area. Rev. Norman used as his Theme, The Enduring World explain- ing the work of a 3-fold Society that serves Canada and some 150 other countries providing Bibles, Testa- ments, Gospels, and Scripture selections in some 1500 languages. Only with our help can the Bible Society continue to provide this vital service. In the choir Miss Gail Malcolm sang beautifully There Is A Green Hi]l Far Away, accompanied by Mrs. Mabel Cawker on the organ. Offering received by Mr. Norm Mairs and Mr. Ralph Sadler. March 2 at 11 a.m. Social News ~ Mr. Ralph Bowers, Todd, Craig and Tracey of Tyrone, Mrs. Helen Vine, Darlene and Debbie, Arnold and Jean Williams all of Nestleton were dinner guests with their parnets Mr. and Mrs. George Bowers on Sunday. A delicious turkey dinner with all the trimmings was prepared by daughter Jean for the occasion. A birthday celebration was the order of the day when Bert and Marilyn Bowers, John and Brian of Oshawa invited his parents George Nestleton, Caesarea celebration for daughter-in- law Carol on Sunday. Those present for the occasion were Robert Mairs. Steven and Katie, Nestleton, Allan - Mairs of Oshawa, and John and Diane Slute and Jeremy Jay of R.R. 1 Oshawa. A perfect setting for a party and we do wish from this area very best wishes for a happy year ahead to Carol. A Gala Night Out Square Dance classes have been in progress at Black- stock Town Hall and on Saturday evening the Bowm- anville Bashful Beaus Square Dance Club are nd Dance held in the ; ac to a Pot Luck Supper and Ella Bowers, Nestleton 'Recreation Centre in Black- to a special dinner on Satur- day evening at the Bonfire in Lindsay in honour of Ella's Birthday. Wonderful family get-togethers and Happy belated wishes to Ella on this special day in her life. Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Lywood, Lindsay, and Mr. and Mrs. George Bowers, Nestleton, called recently on Mr. and Mrs. Ross Clark of Whitby. Irene Clark is the former Irene Lywood of Lindsay. She has had surgery just recently and is feeling much improved. On the way home the Lywoods and the Bowers enjoyed dinner at Conway Gardens in Port Perry. The Bowers visited Mr. Wilfred Wilson, Nestleton, who is at present in Ross Memorial Hospital in Lind- say. A speedy recovery is wished to Wilfred. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mairs hosted a birthday stock. Norman and Bernice Mairs of Nestleton attended and report a wonderful evening of tasty delicious food followed by expert dancing. An informal atmosphere for an interest- ing, relaxing evening for all participating. The Cawkers visited with Mrs. Sarah Bragg and son Ken, Bowmanville recently and were Sunday callers with Mr. and Mrs. Alan Cawker and family of Oshawa. Mr. Grant Cawker, Chris, Curtis and a friend Mr. John Sharp of Oshawa were fishing Sunday after- noon on Lake Scugog and later called on the Cawkers _ of Scugog Point. News for next week- whether it is church activit- ies, visiting, celebrations, card parties or whatever give correspondent a call with news. Phone 986-4715. Dance -A -Thon at High School by Ginny Burt Port High had another busy week. Of course we all had Wednesday off. (to get professionally developed.) Carnations were delivered on Valentines' by Port's own cupids and it was another great success this year. On Friday night the senior boys Basketball team lost to Henry Street by a close 3 points. This ties the team with 3 others for third place. This Thursday they play their first LOSSA playoff game here at home. Get out and support our team. The Junior and Midget Boys Basketball teams play- ed Monday night (we didn't have the results at the time this was written). Both teams still have good chanc- es for the LOSSA playoffs. Good luck to all three. The At Home Committee will be holding work meet- ings every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. Remember the At Home is on April 25th which isn't far away. Show your support by getting out and helping Juliette and Karry with their loads of work. We're having a Dance-A- Thon! It begins on Feb. 29th at 4:00 p.m. and finishes on March 1 at 8:00 a.m. The entry fee is $5.00 per person and $10.00 per couple. This money can be collected by _ sponsor or just paid by your- self.
