PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, March 12, 1980 -- 13 Skiing good at Dagmar Many of Eastern Canada's skiers and ski areas have been crying the blues this year - 1980 was the winter that it did not snow. But, at Dagmar Ski Resort, near Claremont, it's a different picture - the area has plenty of snow just begging to be used. An extensive snowmaking program at the resort this winter has produced one of the best snow bases ever - * March 3 measurements have shown the average depth to range from 30 to 100 centi- metres. On two of the busiest slopes, spot checks have revealed that the mach- inery has put out over 200 centimetres ( six-and-a-half feet) of snow! For trivia buffs, the snow made at Dagmar this winter would cover the back yard of rentals if you wish at: HELLO PORT PERRY! THURSDAY IS YOUR DAY! We've got lots of snow and we're celebrating with a ski party for Port Perry and area residents every Thursday until the season ends. Enjoy skiing - downhill or cross-country - with lessons and '/3 OFF REGULAR PRICES! a good-sized town lot to a depth of about one Kkilo- metre! Management at the resort states that, even with warmer temperatures on the way, skiing could last well into April this year. If you can't imagine a pile of snow that deep, you can ski it to believe it at Dagmar. The resort has announced a promotional campaign cen- tred on the theme: "it's like having a little mountain in your own back yard". The program sets aside one day a week for local residents to put together a ski party of their own with reduced rates for skiing, rentals, and lessons, as well as meals in the resort's licenced dining lounge.
