Joan Warren and Eileen Hodgins took part in World Day of Prayer in Port Perry United Church on Fri. Eight ladies from our area attended the Port Perry United Church Coffee Hour when Mr. Gerald Ravens- dale delivered a very interesting and enlightening talk pertaining to his daily work as Probation Officer for Scugog. We also had the privilege of hearing a former village girl Mrs. Jas. 'Mildred Martyn' Nookes now of Oakwood. Millie as we say, tendered a sincere warm spiritual message in the form of 'autobiography.' Both above named guests were each recipients of a token in appreciation of sharing their time for our benefit. Congratulations are in order to Mrs. F. Sheila Dantzer when learning of her painting or paint-brush award. Better bill of health to Mrs. Fred Olsen who is a hospital patient. Mr. and Mrs. M. Mansfield of Bowmanville accompan- ied her parents Mr. and Mrs. Wozney when all witnessed the baptism ceremony of the latters grand daughter little Annie Leak baby of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wozney Jr. of Mississauga.' Rev. and Mrs. C. Clarke have had their ailing daugh- ter. Mrs. Chalifaux. from being a hospital patient in Western Hospital, Toronto. Improved health is wished for Helen as she and her husband returned to their home in Meaford on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Grills are home from their weeks in Tampa, Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hunter are, also, home from a vac- ation in Florida sunshine. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Bea- cock and Philip were with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Allison, Blackstock, on Sunday. Apparently it is a tradition among the Strong family when a grandchild reaches age 16, he. or she, are given a birthday party comprising of a few extra frills. etc. There- * fore, Randy Geer's special 16 candle gathering was held at his aunt'and uncles. Mr. and Mrs. McHugh's home in Port Perry, as a result. Randy's grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Strong. were among the over 30 close relatives present. Several young girls enjoy- ed all the sparkles of Char- lene Daigle's birthday, of ten vears. which was in the form of a *'Sleep-Over" party. Mr. and Mrs. J. Brough and family visited a group of relatives in Picton and area. The Hugh Strong's were visited recently by daughter, Mrs. Hargrave (Dorothy) of Willowdale. and Mrs. Leta Doupe of Port Perry for two days.
