As this was Palm Sunday the congregation traditional- ly celebrated Communion at Church and an especially nice addition to our service was that Miss Kelly Boyle was given the honour of reading the scripture and I might add, did it very well too. I must compliment Rev. Roundell for his rather novel idea of including the young kids in duties generally restricted to clergy. When the children are allowed to participate in various parts of the service I think it has a great deal more meaning for them. I, for one, would like to see it continued. Happy fourth birthday to a very special little friend of mine, Michelle Lavereau who will be celebrating her special day on April 3. Happy birthday honey! Little Craig Beacock had the misfortune to badly scald It's Maple Syrup Time From inside the cook- shack drifted the smell of fresh pancakes cooking on the grill. A large crowd waited outside patiently for their serving of pancakes smothered in butter and maple syrup. Here some of the volun- teers prepare the next batch. . [Bottom] A ride on a hay-wagon was enjoyable for the whole family and made the trip to the sugar bush much quicker. [Right] The sap from maple trees is poured into large metal kettles and boiled over a hot wood fire. When the sap has turned to syrup it is cooled and bottled. both his feet one day last week and as a result has had to remain in Port Perry hospital enjoying all the 'attention from the wonderful staff for a few days. I must congratulate the gals who were in charge of planning and co-ordinating the coffee morning last Wed- nesday. It was simply terrific! I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. Our next one will be held on Wed. April 30 and Sandy McCully has promised to bring a film and presentation on Cancer. So please plan to attend this meeting. Cancer plays no favourites. Know the facts so you can protect yourself as much as possible. Circle that date on your calendar and we hope many will take advantage of this most informative discussion. All are cordially invited to attend a Musical Variety Program presented at the Miller Memorial church in Pleasant Point on Saturday April 12 at 8:00 p.m. Also on the same day the Greenbank Seagrave Scouts will be having a bottle drive by Jean Stachow "Variety for 1980" was snowed out at Myrtle in March, so the new date is Thursday, April 10th at 7:30 p.m. The Country Performers from the Yelverton-Janet- ville area, under the leader- ship of Mr. Art Rodgers will present their variety program- consisting of four comedy plays, musical selections and Scottish danc- ing in Myrtle United Church at this time. This is an evening's enter- tainment for the whole. family so plan to attend. Tickets at the door, adults $2.00 and children$1.00. You are invited to the Easter Breakfast at 9 a.m. this Sunday April 6th in Myrtle United Church. Plan to stay for Easter Sunday Worship at 10:30. Lee and Blair Beacock enjoyed spending a couple of days at Grandpa and Grand- ma Les Beacock's in Prince Albert during school break. It was certainly nice to see Bill Keene out to church on Sunday once again. Bill has had quite a bout with illness this winter. Greenbank Seagrave Ladies Auxilliary of Scouting wish to remind all groups of the Scouting movement and their families are invited to join in the fun. Admission will be paid for by the Ladies Auxilliary. Please notify your respective leaders as to how many persons from your family will be attending to life guarding arrangements can be made. There will be a Board of Stewards meeting at the church on Tuesday, April 8 at 8:00 p.m. The next Beaver meeting will be held at the Church on April 3 at 6:15 p.m. Also on Myrtle news . Dorothy Manderson, will sing, "Open the Gates of the Temple" and the junior choir under the direction of Mrs. Terry Peters will sing "Were you there when they Cruci- ¢. { fied my Lord"... _ On April 22nd, the Myrtle Women's Institute will celebrate their 25th anniver- sary in the Myrtle United Church. The Beaveree will be host- ed by 1st Cartwright Beavers at Blackstock Fair Grounds on June 14 from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Permission slips will be sent home prior to this event with the boys.
