Two local broomball teams will compete in Oshawa by Dave Dalton The 1979-80 season has drawn to a close for the Port Perry Broomball Assoc. with Utica Farm Equipment beating league leading C&B Livestock this past weekend. The teams aren't quite ready to hang up the shoes "Ives finish 'with a victory by Marg White Port Perry Ives Florists finished off the year on a winning note. The Port Perry Ives Flor- ists entered the Oro tourna- ment. In our first game there ® was no contest as Oro beat us 13-3. In our second game we played Elora which was close for awhile but Port came out on top 6-3. In our third game we played Stay- ner whom we beat 6-1. We ended up winning the conso- lation which was a great way to end the year. Scoring on the day Rhonda White 12 goals 2 assists, Janice Jack- mon 2 goals 1 assist, Janet Dean 1 goal 3 assists, Mich- elle Newell 2 assists, Jill Kendall, Kelly Raines and Tish Lefort all had 1 assist. and brooms yet as there is a tournament this Saturday, April 12, at the North Oshawa Arena with 2 or 3 of our teams participating. After this weekend the league executive will be getting ready for the Annual Dinner and Awards night held April 26th at the Immaculate Conception Hall and fan participation is welcome. It was good to see the number of spectators we had this season, especially in the final series, and maybe it's an indication that Broomball is becoming a welcomed sport in this area. The executive and teams worked hard this year in hosting our own tournament and the Regional Playdowns and extend our appreciation to the fans.
