I. The annual meeting of Honeydale Branch, was held Thurs., April 3, in the Muni- cipal Hall. A pot luck luncheon was served prior to the meeting, Mrs. Thelma McCreight's group in charge. The Pres. Mrs. Clara Warren opened the meeting at 2 p.m. with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. A cordial welcome was extend- ed to members and visitors. The Roll Call was well answered by each member recalling an interesting story about her Grandmother which proved very worth- while and held the attention of the membership. Motto Friendship ties are always fast, for they link the present with the past. Dues were paid at this time, and we heartily welcome two new members to our branch and know they will benefit greatly. Extensive plans are being made for the 45th annivers- ary to be held at Latcham Centre May 8th 2 p.m. The committee comprise: Edna Wilson, Helen MacMaster, Thelma McCreight, Clara Warren, Vera Honey, Flor- ence Ellicott and Margaret Cornish re Tweedsmuir History. - An invitation to attend the 25th anniversary of Myrtle Branch Tuesday April 22nd 2 p.m. to be held in Myrtle Church basement was accepted. Two carloads are planning to be on hand to help celebrate. A report of Scugog Social Planning Council meeting was given by Marion Johnston. A motion was passed that Honeydale join same, for the coming year. The Branch is asked for cookies, and members to assist with lunch for The Family Life Series Program to be held in the Town Hall, Monday April 28th. Clara Warren, Grace Bassant and Thelma McCreight agreed to help with this project. A card was signed for our secretary who is scheduled for surgery. Warmest wish- es for better health soon, we miss her at the Institute. Also any others with health problems, a speedy recovery. Annual reports were presented by the various officers and convenors for year 1979;80, showing an active year in Institute work. The District President Mrs. Wotten gave some high- lights re Women's Institute activities and expressed warmest wishes to officers and members for a success- ful year ahead. Dr. E.E. Joblin of Lindsay assisted by Mr. Arthur Rodgers officiated at the wedding ceremony. The bride, given in marri- age by her parents, Marjorie and Floyd Stinson, was pretty in a white floor length polyester knit gown with self training and matching hood. The bodice and bell sleeves were trimmed with guimpe lace, the bodice featured a keyhold neckline. The sole jewellery worn by the bride consisted of a gold necklace with wishbone pennant inset with diamond - a gift from the groom. The bride carried a bouquet of red roses and baby's breath. The bridesmaids were simi- larly attired in royal blue velvet floor length gowns with low neckline and Carmichael-Stinson Life" as the bride was escor- ted forward by her father. During the signing of the register Terry provided a solo "You'll never Walk Alone." The reception following the wedding ceremony was held at the Manvers Community Centre. The 3- tier wedding cake in white, trimmed in blue, topped with a pair of wedding bells held a conspicuous place at the head table. Mr. Dale Stinson, only brother of the bride was the genial master of ceremonies for the toasts which followed a delicious roast pork dinner served by the Yelverton U.C.W. ladies. Mr. Clarence Page, uncle of the bride, proposed a toast to the Bride which was answered by the groom, who in turn proposed a toast to the Bridesmaids answered by the groomsman brother Charles. Mr. Floyd Stinson, father of the bride, in a few well chosen words welcomed all the guests present, congratulated the newlyweds and welcomed b to the family circle. Mr. Bert Grant, D.J. from narrow shoulder straps with | Balyduff provided suitable contrasting blue mohair capes. The matron of honour was Mrs. Carol Stinson, sister-in- law of the bride, carried a bouquet of white carnations tipped in blue with red rose buds. The bridesmaids, Miss Suzie Fallis and the junior bridesmaid was Pam's neice little Joanne Stinson, each carried bou- quets of white carnations dipped in ble. The bride's mother was attractively attired in a floor length gown of polyester knit in cranberry red with lace insets and wore a matching orchid. The groom and his atten- dants were similarly dressed in powder blue and dusk Bentley blue Tuxedos. The groom and the brides father sported boutinnieres of white carnations. The Grooms- man was Charles Carmic- hael of Omemee, brother of the groom, and the ushers were long time friends Messrs. Tom Madrick and Jim Moore of Toronto. The church was tastefully decorated with two stan- dards of candelebra, seven to a stand in the blue motif. Mr. Terry Staples offi- ciated at the electric organ playing "You Light Up My music for the dancing that continued throughout the balance of the evening. Guests present from a distance include guests from Peterborough, Toronto, Newcastle, Haliburton, Port Severn, Oshawa, Bradford, and local communities. Following the wedding the bride and groom flew back to Edmonton where they are both employed in Morinville, Alta, a nearby town where Pam is a Secretary for Swifts and Bob, an electri- cian.
