A large number of parents and students from the Cart- wright area attended "Spring Swing 1980' which was held at the Port Perry High School on Thursday, April 23. Those that partici- pated from Blackstock were Sounds of Cartwright direct- ed and accompanied by Mrs. Wendy Dixon, Cartwright Junior Choir and Staccatos directed and accompanied by Miss Kathy Morton, The Cartwright High School Choir directed by Miss Judy Howsam, and Cartwright High School Choir directed by Mr. Ray Ashton and accompanied by the mass band and choir of approxi- mately 650 students that performed the medley from The Sound of Music. Mrs. Harold Burns enter- tained in honour of bride- elect Miss Beth Park at the Scarborough Golf and Country Club on Sunday April 27. Attending from this area were Mrs. Roy Taylor, Mrs. Lawrence McLaughlin, Miss Lynn McLaughlin, Mrs. George Wolfe, and Mrs. Charles Stevens, Newcastle. Senior Citizens Euchre Party was held on Tuesday with 25 tables and the follow- ing results. 1-Verna Draper- 89; 2-Flossie Ploughman-83; 3-Elva VanCamp-82; 4-Bert Gibson-80; 5-Clarence Brown -80; 6-Maxine Brock-79; Low James Emerton. The draw was won by Weir Swain. A former Rector of the St. John's Anglican Church, Rev. John McKibbin passed away on Friday. The funeral will be held on Tuesday. Next week there will be an Information Night for parents wishing to enrol their children in next year's Nursery School on May 6 at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Centre. Plans are underway for the Flea Market to be held on Saturday, May 10 at the Recreation Centre from 10-3 p.m. There will be craft demonstrations, free draws, fish ponds and tea tables. There will be lots of activi- ties for everyone. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Baumchen who will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on May 4, 1980. McKee 50" anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Marwood McKee of Blackstock cele- brated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 20th, 1980 at the Christian Education Centre of Black- stock United Church. Over 200 relatives and friends helped celebrate the occasion. Marwood and Olive (Thompson) McKee were united in marriage at the home- of the bride's parents, at Cadmus, April 16, 1930, with the Rev. Frank Newell officiating. The tea table, beautifully decorated, centred with a 3-tiered wedding cake, and six candles in gold candel- abra, with silver tea service at each end of the table. Those pouring tea were Mrs. Fern Lawson, sister of the bride, Mrs. Ruby Parsons, Mrs. Edith Bruce and Mrs. Effie Ploughman. Marlene Parsons was in charge of the guest book. Marilyn Green and Janice Crawford served wedding cake to the guests. Mr. and Mrs. McKee received plaques from the Rt. Hon. Edward Schreyer, Governor General of Canada, Hon. William Davis, Premier of Ontario, and the Township of Scugog. Greet- ings were received from Rt. Hon. Pierre Trudeau, Prime Minister of Ontario, Rt. Hon. Joe Clarke, Leader of the Opposition, M.P. Allan Lawrence and M.P.P. William Newman. Many beautiful gifts and flowers and over 100 cards were received.
