John and a fellow law student Robert Benner are starting their own law set for Pioneer Days Its almost here for 1980! Scugog Museum Pioneer Days will be held on May 17 and 18 and as the saying goes there is something for every- body. As you might expect, all the museum buildings have their seasonal displays, many of which are new for this year. In particular, the main room of the school building will feature a superb display of hand paint- ed tole-ware and another of reproduction antique dolls. Look this year too for our pharmacy, circa 190], in the school basement. Ever wonder how they did without freezers on the farm? Well then visit the beef ring behind the Greenbank House and find out. There is more to Pioneer Days though than just a tour of our buildings. This, the third annual Pioneer Days, is first a celebration of a life style lived by the early settlers of our region through demon- strations and displays, and second, a day of fun, games, and entertainment. You can see butter making, cider pressing, ice cream making, baking on the old wood stoves and then taste the fruits of these labours. There will be many craftsmen at work including weavers, spinners, candlemakers, a broom maker, blacksmith, shingle maker to mention but a few. There will be sheep shearing demonstra- tions and a petting zoo "for kids of all ages. Add to this games and contests like bread cutting and apple peeling and you have a fun filled day in store for you. In the entertainment area there will be many talented local people performing throughout the afternoon and there will of course be refreshments available at two spots on the grounds. The pies are home made'! So don't miss it! Join us for great fun and entertainment and don't tell the kids its also educational.
