Not all nominations are in. They still have until the end of the week to decide whether or not they'll run, but the majority of the people who have stated their elegibility will be in their final year next fall when they take office. The most glaring excep- tion to this case is Cam Muir who is running for President. Muir, this year's Yearbook editor, will be in grade twelve next September. His running mate is Martha McCallum, the outgoing Treasurer, who is in her senior year next term. They will be getting stiff competition from Brian Barr and Jackie Baker, both of whom will be grade 13, and who were also on the Execu- tive council. Port Perry High School uses a running mate elector- al system for President and Vice-President. Therefore, they will appear on the ballot together and will win or lose as a team. Regardless of who is named President-elect later this month, both teams will serve on the new Execu- tive. Other than the Presiden- tial race there will be at least three campaigns for office. On the others,if nobody contests it, they will be voted in by acclimation. In the only race that does not feature a grade 13 . and student Melanie Bruce and Carla Dempsey will run against Laurie O'Reilly and Sue Doupe for the office of student involvement. All four are senior students next year. One battle that pits nothing but grade 13's against each other is that one for Treasur- er. The team of Howard Smith and Briggitte Snapp- bauer is running against Juliette Chow. Chow was the A Home c¢onvenor this year thus has council experience. Two younger students, Leanne Hardy and Norman Arney, are going up against Dave Alexander and Lynn O'Reilly, both of whom will be seeing their last year, for the right to run the next winter Carnival. So far there hasn't been anyone to oppose the nomin- ation of Ilka Gottschalk and Marissa Sergnese for con- venorship of the At Home, the annual spring prom. both of these . girls, neither of whom was on the council this year, will be in grade 13. Two other areas that are as yet uncontested are the Foreign Child where Sheila Cannon is campaigning alone, and Dance Committee where Greg Kroonenberg holds fort. It appears that Todd Wilbur and Brett Oosterman will walk into the Boys Athletic Association posts. There is a contest for Girls Athletic Association leader- ship however. Kelly Owen and Terry Henderson, both entering grade 13, tackle Sarah Twomey and Kelly Kasper.
