Heron The Ladies Guild met on Tuesday evening of last week in the church hall. The director of the guild, Marg- aret Davis opened the meet- ing and dealt with the business for the month. Barbara Porter, program convenor introduced the guest speaker who was Linda Death, one of our own [~ group, but comes very quali- fied to speak on the subject of nutrition. Linda had a display of charts and pamph- lets to help us understand her interesting and very helpful talk. This is the last regular meeting until September but there are some interesting things being planned. The Ashburn group of the W.M.S. met last Wednesday afternoon at the home of Bernice Gardner. The presi- dent, Lois Daw conducted the meeting. Florence Ash- ton gave the opening devotions and used an article in the Presbyterian Record by Rev. Glen Davis who recently visited our Church. The study was given by Ray Death, taken from St. Lukes Gospel and entitled, Knowing ourselves, and our roots. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell returned with them and visited relatives in the area last week. Miss Joan Mellor and Miss Fern Stephen of Toronto were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ashton and family on Sunday. Mrs. Mel Briscoe left last Saturday on a trip to England to visit relatives. We all hope Mary hé8a good vacation. The Church School teach- ers and officers and interest- ed members gathered at the Church hall on Friday even- ing with Mrs. Gloria Aiken and Mr. Dave Stewart of Scripture Press, Whitby when they displayed and talked about church school materials. Mrs. Aiken, yr. Stewart Crash injures four A three-car accident late Friday afternoon on High- way 7A just west of Port Perry resulted in minor injuries to four persons, and an undisclosed amount of damage. Whitby OPP say the accident occurred about 5:00 and one of the. occupants required Hospital - treatment for minor injuries. The others injured in the crash did not need treatment. Details of the accident and names of those involved were not disclosed by the * OPP on Monday morning, as the police investigation had and Rev. McEntyre were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ashton. On Sunday morning at Burns Church, Miss Joan Mellor of Australia was a special guest. She sang a beautiful solo during the service and also gave the message when she told of some of her work with T.E.AM. Ministry. Next Sunday the ladies choir will sing to honour Fathers Day. Don't forget the Barbecue at'Barbara and Ray Porters on Saturday.
