The festivities were held in Latcham Centre with approximately ninety W.I. members present from Ontario South District as well as some former members and friends. Receiving at the door were Mesdames Mary Hardy, May Allen, Florence Ellicott and Vera Melton. As each member signed the guest book a beautiful blue or gold corsage was pinned on, a little momento of the occas- ion. The corsages were made by Clara Warren, Thelma McCreight and Ina De Yonge. After the guests were seat- ed the newly elected Presi- dent Helen MacMaster extended a most cordial welcome to all present, and opened with the W.I1. Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. A short business period follow- ed taking care of necessary business which had to be dealt with before June. The President had the honour of presenting Life Memberships to the three remaining Charter members namely: Vera Honey, Clara Warren and May Raines. Members were sorry that May Raines was unable to attend but her Life Member- ship was presented later at Epsom and area news by Jean Jeffery Mrs. Shirley Baster attended the Sorority Con- vention in Hamilten this weekend. Miss Jinny Van Veghel and Miss Kathy Baster partici- pated in the recital on Friday evening at Northeast School of dancing. Mr. Jeffery Potter is home for the summer holiday from school in Vermont. Choir practice for the Strawberry Social to be held July 5 at Memory Hall will be at Epsom Church Thurs- day June 12. As this is a community affair anyone who is willing to help is asked to please come at 8:30 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Ashton and family were supper guests on Sunday with his parents. Mr. and Donald Asling called on her sister Mrs. Elsie Gorill in Lindsay hosptial. Her friends will be pleased to know she is improving following surgery. Congratulations to Barry and Rob Page who won first prize in Residents Family Class in Canoe the Nonquon. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Monsma, Mr. and Mrs. Don Card and family were Sunday supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Allen Card. Misses Ruth and Margaret Taylor were home for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Taylor attended decoration services at Erskine Cemetery, Dun- barton. Mr. and Mrs. H. Ashton visited Miss Jean Watson at Bon Aire Nursing Home in Cannington then went to visit Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ashton and family at Oakwood. Mr. and -Mrs.\ Archie Watson were with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Watson of Ajax on Saturday evening to cele- brate Cathy's birthday. The Bethesda Reach W.I. will have their trip June 25 to Milton Agriculture Museum. Other plans are not finalized but keep the date open and members bring your hubby and some friends along. Wendy Evans spent the weekend with Heather Munro at a trailer camp near Lindsay. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Evans attended the Huron County Black and White show while visiting Mr. and Mrs. John Weirsma at Blythe last week "end while they were away Mr. Ken Ingleton and wife of New Liskeard called and visited with the family. Epsom Utica Picnic and sports day will be held at Epsom. Sports in the school yard at 1:30. Pot Luck supper at the church at 5:30 This is a community project come and bring your friends. The President then turned the celebration over to Mabel Cawker who chaired the programme. an interest- ing resume of the History of the Branch was given by Curator Margaret Cornish tracing the Aims and Activi- ties through the years up to the present time. The Tweedsmuir Histories were on display. An excellent variety pro- gramme was a highlight presented by the eleven Branches from Ontario South District. Sorry, Whitby members were not able to attend, the only branch absent. During the programme, Honeydale entertained members with a humorous skit entitled The Census Taker, acted out by Clara Warren and Thelma McKreight. Lillian Harper, a new member was the talented pianist for the day and a rousing sing song was enjoy- ed. The anniversary cake, made and artistically decor- ated by Klara Balling, who is another new member, graced the centre of ' the table. Later it was cut by Vera Honey and Clara Warren, the Charter members present. Many pictures were taken of this gala event. The celebration closed with O Canada. After singing the\ Institute Grace the social hoyr follow- ed. With an assdrtment of sandwiches, relishes, anniversary cake and tea, as well as an enjoyable visit added a final touch to a delightful afternoon. Prizes were won by many members given out by President Helen MacMaster. When the last good by was spoken, it was with a feeling of regret. We were loath to have it come to an end, all felt it had been a great priveledge to attend such an important event in W.I. history and renew old friendships. A warm sincere thank you to all who helped, too many to mention, make the occas- ion such a success.
