Heron Mrs. John Cincurak enter- tained neighbours and friends in honour of Mrs. Lambert Kroes on Monday evening of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Kroes and family are moving to their new home in Brooklin soon. The ladies Bible class met on Tuesday evening of last week at the home of Florence Ashton. The open- ing devotions were given by the President and Catherine Humphrey read the scripture. Muriel Fisher led in Prayer. The study for the evening was given by Rose Heron, who continued the study on the Women of the Bible and the story of Ruth was studied. Margaret Davis closed the meeting with prayer. A dainty lunch was served by the hostess and Norma Ingleton. Ray Death, Muriel Fisher, Bernice Gardner, Ruby Bryant and Rose Heron attended the Summer Rally of the W.M.S._ Presbyterial for Lindsay last Wednesday afternoon and evening at Gamebridge. Several ladies of the area enjoyed a tour though the R.S. McLaughlin home in Oshawa which is known as Parkwood. They all enjoyed lunch at Durham College. Mr. and Mrs. Michael Fedorkwi of Rosedale B.C. Mrs. Jean Bundy of Toronto and Mr. Jack Bundy of Ancaster visited recently with Miss Hilda and Mr. Walter Hopkins. A miscellaneous shower was held in the community centre last Friday evening to honour Mrs. Christine Richardson and Mr. Jim Smith prior to their marriage later this month. A hilarious mock wedding was enjoyed by everyone. Nellie Hopkins brought the happy couple our best wishes before they opened the gifts. Lunch was served and a social time enjoyed. Those who were able to go to the barbecue last Satur- day evening at the home of Barbara and Ray Porter enjoyed it very much, the food was good and the friend- ship great. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Alldred of Fenelon Falls spent a few days with their daughter and family Mr. and Mrs. Ray Porter. Our sympathy goes out to the Ashton family in the passing of their sister in law and aunt, Mrs. Lawrence Doble in Weston last Wednesday. We are sorry to report Mr. Gordon Stuttaford is at the time of writing in Port Perry Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. W. McAnd- less of Don Mills were visitors on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. E. Heron. It was sion of their Grand- daughter Karen's birthday. The ladies choir sang two numbers at Burns Church last Sunday to honour the Fathers on their day, and Rev. McEntyre's message was about responsibility in leadership. Service next Sunday at the usual hour 11:15 a.m. and Church School is at 10 a.m. Good turnout for 52nd annual Leask re-union by Joan Lane The 52nd Annual Leask Family picnic and reunion was held on Saturday June 7, 1980 at Poplar Park, Port Perry, Ontario. President Ross Stone welcomed every- one and all enjoyed a bounti- ful lunch at the noon hour. The business was taken care of by the president and Joan Lane read the report of the previous years gathering. Irene Leask told of a letter she received regarding the Leask tartan. Madam Leask of Scotland who wrote the letter said "that the Leasks were too 11 a group to have their own clan so they joined with allies called the Hays and so were permitted to wear their tartan. Victor Leask was wearing a tie of the Hay tartan which is presently red in colour. Ross Stone presented Edgar Leask with a certifi- Sidewalk supervisors Construction on Queen Street continues this week, and like any large construction job it creates interest. From our vantage point on the second storey of the Star building we witness quite regularly many sidewalk supervisors. Edgar was 92 in April, and his sister Sylvia Baird was 94 in March. The sports committee of Peter Stone and Carol Lane conducted many games and relays. Souvenir ribbons were given for prizes.
