aa " News and views from vt by Marilyn Beacock Well Moms, can you believe it? School is finished for this school year on Friday. I can't believe it's possible. Best wishes to the staff members at the Green- bank and Mariposa schools for a safe and fun-filled two-months of vacation, you certainly have earned it! Welcome home to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Dee (Aileen) of New Brunswick who are presently being entertained at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Durward. They also are no doubt look- ing forward to being guests at brother Larry's wedding on Saturday. I'm happy to report that little Michael Smith is progressing quickly and is hoping to be discharged from hospital very soon. This week is definitely barbecue week in Seagrave. Wednesday evening, tonight, at 6:00 the Group Committee for Scouting will be hosting a combined barbecue and registration night at the Seagrave ball park. All parents of Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Brownies are asked to bring 'their hotdogs, hamburgers, dessert, chairs, etc., plus $7.50 registration fee for each child. Following supper a brief business meeting will be held to elect the new officers for next season. Your support is needed. See you later. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jordan and daughter Jody of Cann- ington and Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Leslie of Oshawa enjoyed dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Durward on Sunday. The annual Sunday School picnic is scheduled for Sunday June 22. The church service will be held at the new picnic shelter at the Seagrave Park at 10:00 a.m. Greg Smith, our superinten- dent, has asked me to cordially invite both church and Sunday School members to attend the service as well as the barbecue, games etc., that will follow. Everyone attending is asked tq bring hotdogs or hamburgers for their family as well as a finger dessert and their lawn chairs. I hope everyone will take advantage of this casual open-air service and the barbecue, races and games following. The last Sunday School for the summer will be Sunday June 29. From all reports that I've received the recent Open House sponsored by the Port Perry Yacht Club was a spectacular success with a good showing of interested people from the Seagrave area.
