Greenbank Pilot Class Reunion Sunday, June 15th, 1980 is a day long to be remembered as the Pilot Class of forty years celebrated a reunion in WY Sarsse Selling 203 Queen Street - Port Perry OPEN: Mon., Tues., Wed. & Sat. 10to 6 OPEN: Thursday & Friday 10to 9 - EAR PIERCING - BY APPOINTMENT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOONS Greenbank United Church. Over forty years ago, under the capable leadership of Rev. Thomas Wallace, a Sunday School class of young men of Greenbank :and cominunity was organized. The group called themselves "The Pilot Class," and their motto was Straight Ahead and their theme song was "Jesus Saviour Pilot Me." The class met once a month with Almer Rennie the first president, the late Charles Partridge as secret- ary. ,The late Ivan Beare as co-pilot or first vice presi- dent and Ronald Lee was the treasurer. : This group enjoyed many social functions raising money for different charit- able organizations. One of their highlights was a minstrel show which they put on three different periods from 1936-1946. After the service men teu in 1945 the Pilot Class "honoured them with a dinner and presented each one with a pen and pencil set suitably engraved. On Sunday George Beare reviewed the history of the Pilot Class from its beginn- ing in 1936-1946 which was very interesting. The Choir consisted of former members with the quartette of George Beare, Almer Rennie, William Stone and Gordon Ward singing some old time selections. Mrs. Annie Wallace assisted Mrs. 'Betty Stone at the piano. We were also favoured with several musical selections with Almer Rennie playing violin and his sister Mrs. Edith Groom from Kenora at the piano. Rev. Roundell gave the meditation to a large appre- ciative congregation. The beautiful flowers in the church were dedicated in loving memory of Rev. Wallace and deceased members of the class. After the service a picture was taken of some forty members who were present for the reunion. Later after much reminiscing, everyone enjoyed a pot luck dinner, hoping to meet again before too many years pass by.
