+ by Mabel Cawker Exciting Trip Enjoyed Mrs. Rita Wygerde of Nestleton had 4 wonderful weeks recently tripping about her homeland leaving Canada May 25, for the Netherlands. Rita had an excellent flight, with except- ional meals, and was well looked after, arriving in Amsterdam, Schiphol, 5:30 a.m. Canada time and 11:30 a.m. Holland time. She was met by her 4 sisters and their husbands. They then jour- neyed to Noordayherhout and were received by the Aunt and Uncle who had adopted Rita and her brother. Rita was a very young girl when adopted. That was the beginning of family parties. Many wond- erful get togethers visiting all her relatives which lasted approximately four weeks. On June 23 Rita arrived home with many fond memories of her glorious trip, a never to be forgotten one. She brought home memoirs from the homeland literature, re-the Caves of the South part of Holland and 'the Delfts Blue Factory (porcelain) among other personal treasures. We wel- come Rita back and so glad she had such a carefree relaxing holiday. Attend Leaders Training Camp Edward and Teresa Wygerde, Nestleton attended the Leaders training camp held at Sparrow Lake for five days and will be employed there during the summer as counsellors. Reunion Attended Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mairs attended the reunion of the Cooper family, (Norman's Mother's relatives) held in Elgin Park Uxbridge, recently. Fred Swann presented an excellent sermon based on Scripture, St. John 6: 22-40 taking as his theme "Jesus, the Light of the World and the Bread of Life." Mrs. Shirley Scott was organist for the service. Everyone welcome to attend next Sunday at 10 a.m. Dominion Day (View Point) On July 1st, Canada was 113 years old. Another year is opening its doors to us. We'll have many problems to face such as inflation, sagg- ing dollar, morals at low ebb, crime statistics continuing to climb, menace of drug and alcohol is frightening etc., The nation of Canada has never offered a more inter- esting, exciting, challenging future. What can we as loyal citizens do to help? The greatness of a nation begins in the homes of its people. Heron A very pretty wedding was solemnized in Burns Church last Saturday when Miss Christine Richardson became the bride of Mr. Jim Smith of Scarborough. The reception dinner was held in the Church Hall and afterward a party was enjoy- ed in Whitby Centennial Hall. After their honeymoon Mr. and Mrs. Smith will live in Blackstock. We wish this happy couple all the best for their married life together. Those who were fortunate enough to go to the Horticul- ture meeting last Wednesday evening were well rewarded with the beautiful showing of Roses and flower arrange- ments. Also there were vegetables. It was so fascinating to see how she could make one or two roses and a little greenery become a beautiful arrangment. There will be a tupperware party in the church hall on Thursday evening of this week, July 3rd and everyone is welcome. The ladies guild has purchased new dishes so come out and see them. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schnabel of St. Catherines visited friends and relatives in the area on Sunday. Miss Hilda and Mr. Walter Hopkins were dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Jo Forsyth on Sunday. The official park opening date has been set. It is July 30 at 6 p.m. There will be lots of fun and activities so keep this date open on your calen- dar. Rev. Clifford Johnson of Lindsay was the guest minister at Burns Church last Sunday and his sermon was entitled Faith to Let Go. During the service Mrs. Ernie Humphrey sang a beautiful solo. Next Sunday and all through July Rev. Dr. Clifton MacKay of Fenelon Falls will be the Minister, while Rev. McEntyre is on holidays. be instilled and nurtured into the minds of all Canadian children throughout their formative years. Blue Ray Chapter Celebrates 32nd Birthday The annual birthday party was held Thursday, June 12 in the Masonic Temple, Port Perry with a splendid attend- ance of sisters and brothers from out of town Chapters on hand to help celebrate. It was a pleasure for Worthy Matron Marjorie McCombe and Worthy Patron Sam Cawker to welcome the first Matron and Patron of Blue Ray Chapter, Myrtle and George Palmer from Oshawa. Many distinguish- ed guests were introduced and escorted to the East.
