We started by crea- ting collages, of our favorite foods. On Tuesday, we found that MacDonald's certainly does, do it all for us! We were conducted on a thorough tour of the kitchens. Undoubtedly, the highlight came when we were treated to a hamburger and a coke. Thank you MacDonalds, Oshawa. Continuing our theme, other favorite activities included finger painting - with chocolate pudding. Finger painting was never so finger-licking good!. The finale of the week was the watermelon hunt. Our staff somehow had managed to misplace the watermelon. The kids came to the rescue and found it. Once found, it disappeared again, quickly! bleep-blizz. Martian.) SCUGOG ISLAND by Tracy Bongard How sad, it's too bad that the Scugog Island Play- ground is going to end in just one more week. It seems like the weeks have just played themselves by. Yet don't feel bad, you still can feel glad because if you are a real smart person you can still send your child for that last week of playground. The theme for the last week is Christmas and that means everyone can have Christmas twice a year instead of once. Yes, you read it right it's Christmas for a week. What a joy it will bring to you and your own. So beat the Christmas rush and register your kids now for a week of enjoyment. Also do not miss our Play- ground Exhibition '80, on August 14, where all the playgrounds will unite at the Latcham Centre and display (Thank you in The second time all that all the kids work and pic- could be found were the tures throughout the year as smiles and the seeds which well as doing some cute little AS were used in the seed spit- ting contest. On 4 ioc 10 0-0-v-e on "Wednesday, "we will "take them to the GamaRay desen- sitizer pool. If the visitors come earlier in the week, they will be very helpful in rocket design. Other special events for the week include airplane races, Hat Day and decora- ted Bike Day. So 'all aboard' and 'chug' on out for the fifth week of Playground. SEAGRAVE by Sharon Wallace Last week's food theme was a tremendous success. No one was surprised to find we had a unanimous vote for the most enjoyable activity of the week - eating! Much of the fun was also in the making of cookies, pop- corn, pudding sculpture and food related crafts. A special trip was taken on Thursday to Mother's Pizza Parlour, where both our curiosity about pizza making and our appetites were satis- fied. Many thanks to the planned and we will be decorating them at Play- ground. The week will be ended with a walk-a-thon on Friday. The purpose of this event is to raise funds for special trips and activities. The children will be seeking sponsors and we would genuinely appreciate your support. } BLACKSTOCK by Caroline Carnaghan Pioneer week was chocked full of fun and exciting adventures. Monday included a walk to the woods and building a pioneer vill- age. Wednesday we visited the Scugog Island Museum. The children enjoyed this very much. Thursday included Bread and butter making. This worked well and the children enjoyed eating even more than making the food. Kevin demonstrated string art and we made leather jars, and paper mache. The older children enjoyed rug hooking Thursday morning with Mrs. Stapleton. A big thank you to her. Everyone learned how to spin wool, and thanks to Mrs. Shirley Scott we also were able to see many tools used by the pioneers. Next week's theme is mothers. and - fathers who Holidays. Events-include an supplied their time and transportation for the trip. This week's activities are all related the theme of automation.
