Are present services of Whitby Psychiatric Hospital adequate? Should these services be retained, expanded or discontinued? Should they be offered at Whitby or should they be located in other communities served by Whitby? Should other institutions and community services be tak- ing responsiblity for some of the services now offered by Whitby Psychiatric Hospi- tal? These questions are impor- tant for residents of Durham Region, which is within the service area of Whitby Psychiatric Hospital and will be affected by any proposals for the rebuilding of the Hospital. The public meeting is being organized by the Durham Region District Health Council to obtain in- formation from citizens living in the area served, by Whitby. The Planning and Priorities Advisory Commit- tee of the District Health Council is advising the Ont- the redevelopment of Whitby Psychiatric Hospital. Contract settled Durham Region's 300 inside staff ratified a contract settlement Tuesday evening which calls for a wage increase of 10 per cent over the one-year life of the agreement. The workers, members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1764, approved the settlement by a vote of 117 to 54. Russ Whitney, CUPE representative, said the narrow vote showed that all .the members were not ario-Government regarding ~~ entirely happy with the Settlement.
