Parkes Coming to Port Perry to launch the new season of subscription concerts at Town Hall 1873, the well renowned Ontario Youth Choir is to provide an excit- ing program of choral music ® on Sunday, September 28th, 1980. According to a publication of its current repertoire, a wide range of musical styles is jn store for us, from examples of 16th century @ anthems through almost every vintage to the modern Harry Sommers' folk piece "Le Tambour", including the works of Brahms and Ravel. i Unlike any other thdt we know of, the choir has been __ ® formed anew every year under the auspices of the Ontario Choral Federation. Since its inception in 1970, each year a new conductor is selected, who in turn chooses his own members ¢® from among the many aspir- ing young singers across this province. Hence, some forty successful ladies and gentle- men are carefully trained, developing - ensemble - tech- niques and a vast repertoire in intense preparation for their tour which follows. Under the direction of the choirs' present conductor, Richard Householder, this fine aggregation has been favourable compared to some of the best choral groups of the day. Of great interest is the fact that it is scheduled to make a special documentary about itself for the C.B.C. in the fall of 1980. Some tickets are still available at $6.00, for students and senior citizens $5.00. The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. Training conference for Gold Award Society members of the Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme held at Woodland Trails Conference east of Aurora.
