It increased after Dalton scor- ed and again when Toutant netted a short-handed goal. Toutant's tally was a pictur- esque one. He stole the ball from defenceman Dave Giannini at his own blue line and then won a footrace to the opposite end of the rink, beating goalie Rick Arsenault. Emmerson retaliated while 'Fawns was still serving his penalty when Dennis shoved his own rebound past goaler Rick McLean. Blackstock got that power play goal back with one of its own after Dennis was nailed for tripping in the middle of the second period. Steve Hawes picked up his second assist of the game by passing from behind the net to Donnie Toutant wide open in the slot. Toutant did not miss from point blank range. They also spread their production around, getting singles from Mike Mitchell, Keith: Ellicott Mike Mole, and Aldon Smith. Standout netminder Don Card earned the shutout. Both teams were without key players but obviously it hurt Larocque more. They were missing top rearguard Charlie Durward, high scoring forward Kopie De Jong, and Barry McClure. Utica was without speedy Phil Kenton, who was injur- ed two weeks ago. Larocque had only two spare players on the bench, and one left early in the third period. Mitchell opened the scor- ing and Ellicott made it 2-0 with 4:28 to go on a five men to four manpower advantage with Richard Honey off for high brooming. Mole made it 3-0 with 4:57 left in the game when he broke -down the right-side: .and fired a hard, high shot into the opposite corner of the net past netminder Kevin Beer. Honey was off serving another sentence that allow- ed Utica its second power play goal. Smith did the damage by deflecting a long shot from the boards by Rick Lalonde. C&B 8-0 C&B scored the most lop sided win of the three games, hammering Brian's Towing 8-0, the second time this year they have whipped Brian's by eight goals. Rightwinger Bruce Wood- row played a strong game from that position as he scored twice. Ken Fraser and Robert Evans also had a pair while Ron Redman and Doug Scott put singles past overworked goalie Wayne Cox. Cox must have known he would be in for a long after- noon when left winger Evans. blasted a high shot into the "upper corner on the first shot in his direction, eight seconds after the ball had been dropped. ; Woodrow connected 2:40 'later on a routine set up from behind the net off the broom of Redman, Bob Vandevalk had the best chance of the game for the winless Brian's when he - stole the ball from backliner Ken Davidson at the Brian's line and had a break away stopped by Keith Fraser, Ken Fraser deflected a Mark Lee shot into the top of the net with 6:50 left and Evans banged in a low shot following a pass from Wood- row to give C&B a 4-0 lead before opening period came to a merciful close, Redman got the fifth score before Ken Fraser finalized two passed from Larry Page and Mark Lee by scoring from the front of the net. Lee had to catch the ball in the air and drop it to the ice before sending it over to his winger. Woodrow struck again at the 4:28 point of the last period by plugging away until he finally slipped in a rebound. Scott and Evans had taken earlier shots. ~Thethree wins fails to + change the three way log jam for first place, with - Utica, C&B and Blackstock each having lost only once.
