President Bill Harper welcomed all new members (and old) and the business portion followed his opening remarks. Minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted as well as the Treasurer's report. Under correspond- ence: flyers from several lodges offering weekend snowmobiling packages were read and filed for possible future use by members. The bulletin received from the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club was read in brief and filed. Belles whip Entertainment chair- person, Jean Short, reported on the. three dances held since our last meeting and informed us the Graffitti Dance will be held Nov. 22, 1980 at the Catholic Church Hall. She has tickets avail- able now, Also included in her report was a Card-nite planned for December 6," 1980 at the clubhouse. Members will receive infor- mation through their bulletins and it will be posted on the club bulletin board. He has our annual Ice-drags scheduled for Feb. 15, 1980 but will give us details as the day draws nearer, Under Trails reports it would seem as if the Direct- ors and volunteer workers have been hard at it. Many of the existing trails have been widened to accomodate our groomer and many new trails are in the makings, including an overland trail from Port Perry to our club- house. Vice President Dave- Ballingall pointed out to members that hopefully this new trail would extend our snowmobiling season as it would allow a safe passage to the clubhouse when the canals south of the lake were not safe for snowmobiling. Membership Shay Harper reports 87 memberships for the '80-'81 season. Many of these are new memberships as many of last year's members_have not renewed membership year technical- ly runs from November 1 of one year to November 1 of the following year and urges all unpaid members to renew before the Nov. 30th dead- line. Property director Charlie Harper has been busy and has approximately 90 per cent of the landowners sign- ed for this upcoming season. The next Driver Training course will be at the club- house November 22 and will cost applicants $8.00 for the one-day course. In answer to members questions he point- ed out that applicants must be 12 years of age or over the day of the course and that they would accept applicat- Guide open house Guiding is alive and well in Port Perry, 70 years after the first meetings were held in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1910. Port Perry celebrated this 70th Anniversary with an Open House at the Scout Hall on Sunday afternoon, With many former leaders and Canada Cord Guides in attendance, as well as the current leaders, it was a fine get-together. There was a display of the various badges thaf Brownies and Guides could get, scrapbooks of past glories, a selection of books on the subject of guiding which made interesting reading and projects made by the girls. Reps, Dave Ballingall and Jean Short attended the meeting held November 5, 1980 where they learned the final results from the recent Grass Drags were very favorable. They informed us C.0.R.S.A.. (Central Ontario Regional Snowmobile Association) will once again be hosting a two-day snowmobile ride on January, 10-11, 1981. This year the ride will probably be from Port Perry to Cobourg and back with an overnight - stay at Noone's Restaurant and Motel on Hwy: 115. However, final plans have not been made yet. More to report after their next meeting on Dec. 3, 1980 which they reminded us was open to everyone. Under General = Business Doug Buller suggested a letter of invitation be sent to all C.0.R.S.A, clubs asking them to join 'in our club activities as well as_to let them know of the availability of our clubhouse for their own club functions for a nominal fee. Cathy Armstrong showed her strength in picking up 5 big goals. Well done Cathy! . Heidi Miesner got her first goal of the new season. Tina Soomre and Jessica Fluke each picked up a pair of assists. Our first road game was against Ajax on Monday, November 3 and Port's Tweens proved too strong for this team coming home victorious in a 9 to 1 win. Scoring for Childrens Boutique saw -- Natalie Franssen, Cathy Armstrong, Kelly Storry, and Hiedi Miesner all with two goals each, Lori Newell was credited with a lone marker. Tine Soomre was the play- maker of the evening picking __up3 assists, Kelly Storry and Childrens Boutique the big Ca Cathy Armstrong each had single assists. Saturday, November 8 the Childrens Boutique hosted a strong téam from Whitby and found -ourselves-on the loosing side of the 5 to 1 score. Scoring"Port's only goal was Cathy Armstrong unassisted. Special mention has to be given to Port's goalie" Heather Muir who was outstanding between the pipes. "All the girls gave a very good showing against this much stronger team from Whitby.
