by Mabel Cawker * Trip Enjoyed A warm welcome home to Mrs. Grace Bajema of Nestleton who returned Wednesday, Nov. 12 from an enjoyable five weeks vacat- ion in Holland. While there she visited with her family and a host of friends also travelling to Germany to spend a few days with some close friends there, On Sunday, Nov. 16 Grace was pleasantly surprised when Mr, and Mrs. Gerry Vanderveen, Mississauga and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Albada of Brampton and the Bajema family and grand- children were on hand to give her a great welcome home. An excellent devotional re Remembrance Day was presented by Mrs. G. Fish with Mrs. A. Williams read- ing the Scripture. Hymn Onward Christian Soldiers, was - sung. Mrs. Fish concluding the Devotions with an appropriate poem In Flander's Fields. Secretary Mrs. D. Frew read the minutes and the roll call was taken. A. A social hour followed in the lower hall with a delicious lunch of homemade fruit breads and cheese topped off by a refreshing cup of tea. - Nestleton United Church Although the weather was brisk a very good attendance on Sunday morning at 11:15 am. Rev. Victor Parsons spoke on Stewardship, the topic theme being What's It Like based on Holy Script- ures Romans 6: 3-11 and Matthew 10: 37-42. The four part choir sang In the Beaut- iful Garden of Prayer. Presbyterian Ladies Aid The members of Nestleton Ladies Aid met in the Church Hall for the Nov. meeting on Thursday last with President ==Mrs:=H:-Lee-presiding---She- welcomed all present and opened with a favourite hymn followed by the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. R. Davison presided at the piano. Mrs. Norman Wolfe gave the devotional reading Luke 12:15, and commentary Jesus As Teacher, closing with Prayer. Minutes were approved as read. Correspondence and financial statement was given by the Secretary Miss Ruth Proutt. Correspon- dence included a thank you note for a wedding gift, a letter from the Hospital Auxiliary asking for donat- ions of baking for the Christmas sale Dec. 12 at the hospital, also a request from Community Service for help in supplying Christmas baskets of food for needy families. The ladies agreed to help with both projects. Several - Church calendars were distributed. A get well card was signed for a member in the hospital and a shut in. The Roll Call was answer- ed by ten members. Read- ings were given by Mes- dames R. Davison, H. McLaughlin, G. Wolfe, and G. Heaslip. A hymn and the --Mizpah-Benediction-conclud----- ed the meeting. The hostesses Mrs. H. McLaughlin and Mrs. G. Wolfe served a-- delicious lunch and sociability was enjoyed. Mrs. G. Heaslip extended thanks to all who had contributed to the splendid meeting. Get Well Wishes Very warmest wishes for good health to friend Mrs. Jean Hooper, Toronto who is presently a patient in Scar- borough Centenary Hospital. Jean is a sister of Mrs. Minnie Fisher of Caesarea. Nestleton and Caesarea friends of Mrs. Velva Bailey of Blackstock extend best "wishes for good health soon. Velva is in Port Perry Hospital. Social News of Interest Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Elford of Port Perry, were guests of his sister Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Bowers of Nestle- ton on Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Lee of Oshawa and Mrs. Jim Aber- nethy, Bowmanville, were Thursday evening supper guests with George and Ella.
