The left #2 side was manned by Todd Menzies and Darren McKenzie. The game was close for the opening 15 minutes as each side scored once. Lane scored for the Pacers on a power play by poking in a Blayone rebound. Graham Ayers tied it with 1:13 left after Dave Arse- nault had fired a wrist shot in goaltender Ken Harman's direction. Chris Koulat took a minor penalty for interfering with McKenzie at 2:27 and one minute later Blayone scored after Storry took a shot from the slot. Port's fourth goal was also pn a power play as Menzies stickhandled around Ayers and passed off to Lane for an easy goal behind the weak netminding of Douglas. Arsenault beat Harman on a tremendous slap shot just as he stepped over the blue line on the left wing to make it 4-2... Just afterwards Harman made two stops on Ayers at close range. It was a close_checking, hard hitting match that Port led until the very end. Lane and Vaz scored for the Pacers early in the second period. Lane's was as a result of a perfect set up from Storry while Vaz beat the visiting netminder to the lower stick side, the' identi- cal spot where Lane had placed his marker.
