Ux- bridge played a strong two- way game and earned a 4-1 victory over Port Perry. The first period was close check- ing and neither team scored. Uxbridge came up with one goal in the second and two in - the third before Port Perry finally found the net. Brad Traves scored his first goal of the year on a fine PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed., December 3, 1980 -- 21 Atoms Stars split games solo effort. Uxbridge finish- ed off the scoring with 15 seconds to go in the game. Port Perry had possession of the puck much of the game but were stopped cold as soon as they got over the opposition's blue line. . Defensivley, Port Perry came up a little shaky. The officiating at several - points in the game was a little questionable but it was the great defensive work of the Uxbridge team that won the game for them. After a disappointing loss to the arch rivals from Ux- bridge on Friday night 4-1, we went to Pickering Village with great expectations. A super effort put forward by our whole team resulted in a convincing 8-4 win. This was definitely a team effort which the scoring indicates. The first goal of the game was scored by Brad Menzies unassisted. Three minutes later Steven Connors also Pee Wees hammer Uxbridge 9-0 by Carol Wilbur On Friday, November 28 the Pee Wee Legionairs demolished Uxbridge by a. score of 9-0. In playing Uxbridge over the years, you expect tosee a hard fought game that goes down to the wire. It was not to be as Port took control of the puck at the first whistle and never gave it back until the game was over. Scoring for Port were Tim Cannon 2,1; Dave Burnett 2,1; John Harmon 2,0; Lee Wilbur 1,2; Steven Durham 1,1; Jim White 1,1; Craig Menzies 0,2; Robby Baker 0,1. Steven Whalen played stand up goal. On Saturday the Legion- aires travelled to Lindsay. They defeated Lindsay 3-2 in a hard fought game that Port Bantams by Danny Millar Lori Tesoro led Stouffville with three straight goals as the visiting Bantam A's whipped Port Perry 5-1 in Wednesday night hockey action, November 26 at the Scugog Arena. It was not one of Port Perry's more impressive efforts. They looked sluggish; at times they had trouble keeping up with Tesero, who scored the first three Stouffville markers, and his linemates, most notably Mike Anderson. Tesoro's first goal was a text book rush that Anderson started when he blocked a shot by Port defenceman Ray Meisner at the Stouff- ville blue line. Anderson fed the quick skating centerman up the middle and Port goa]- tender Paul Kingston didn't have a chance. Port's rapidly improving forward, Kevin Ferguson, set up the tying goal with some hard forechecking behind the Stouffville net. He flipped the puck out front to center Jeff Johnstone, one of Port's deadliest Tweens beat Oshawa by Doreen Kendall Port Perry Tweens saw Cathy Armstrong playing a strong. game with 5 of the 6 goals, Heidi Meisner came through with a goal with Jennifer Pellow getting 2 assists, Natalie Franssen and Karen Raines getting one assist each. Jessica Fluke played a super game between the pipes. This was Jessica's first game in goal. Special thanks to Mrs. Jean Muir for all her help and having the girls back to her home after the parade. Thanks to Mr. Fred Canning, Pat Armstrong, Martha Franssen for their help getting the float together. ERTRORI A, ISR SAT defeated 5-1 snipers, who tied it with 5:18 remaining in the first period. After the Johnstone tally, Stouffville took command. They threatened to blow Port right out of its own arena, and would have, save for some sharp work between the pipes by Kingston. Port's puck stopper turned away a break by Ken Burrows and later kicked out a shot by Tereso after he weaved around Port defenceman Mike McConnell and Brian Stevenson. Tesoro struck for another pair in the second period. They were the only markers during the 15 minute frame. He got the first one after breaking down the left wing, cutting in front, and flipping in a high backhander. Later in the period, he carried the puck in from the left side again and slipped it into the side of the net. With 7:33 to go, Port forward Darren Desautels took a penalty and 1';14 later Bill Hutchison slipped it under Kingston during a scramble. Kingston showed the frastration he obviously felt by hurling the puck down the ice. Mike Feasby scored the final Stouffville goal. Sports Lard CUSTOM T-SHIRTS - TEAM UNIFORMS & CRESTING - went right down to the wire. Port took the lead with two goals in the first period, the first scored by Dave Burnett, assisted by Craig Menzies, and the second scored by Craig Menzies assisted by Greg Warriner. Lindsay came back to score one in the second. Greg Warriner scored an unassisted goal early in the third to make the score 3-1. scored unassisted. The second period saw Scott "Scoot" Feasby finally get his first goal assisted by Brad Menzies. Then came two big goals by our first year Atom player Daryl Leatherdale. The first goal was unassisted and the second goal assisted by Steve Connors. The next goal was scored by Robbie Brown from a beautiful high wrist shot from the point from Andrew Steele. The next goal was a solo effort rush from end to end by Warren Geer unassisted. The final goal of the day came from Robbie Brown assisted by Warren Geer. The game proved to be better than the previous couple of games due to some line changes by coach Dave Barkey. Coach Barkey tells me there will be new changes as well for Friday night's game against Stouffville. Our first tournament is this Saturday and Sunday in Bradford. Pee Wee B team nips Sunderland "by Paul Van Camp On Tuesday November 25 George Stone Realtors Pee Wee B's travelled to Sunder- land and came away with a 5-2 victory. Again the first period proved to be a poor one where we were held scoreless but so were they. The second period started quickly with Ron Brown and Steve Solomon setting up Karl Durham. Mike Gibson was the next Realtor to strike on a nice shot from the point from Chris Cookman. Joey Forder also picked up an assist. This ended the second period at 2-0 for Port. Willie Edwards got the third period rolling on an unassisted goal. Port slowed down for a second and let Sunderland score on Mark Kendall who was having a standout game between the pipes. Karl Durham then set up Ron Brown for two conse- cutive goals. Late in the game Mike Johnson took a hooking penalty on a disput- ed call and Sunderland scored to make the final 5-2 for Port.
