At their previous meeting Uxbridge defeated the Port Perry Malmont Farm team. When the two teams met again Friday, January 9, the Green Machine was deter- mined that history wouldn't repeat itself. It didn't. Port Perry shut down their opposition and came out of the game with a 3-0 shut-out. The score could have been a lot higher if it weren't for the brilliant net- minding of the Uxbridge team. Almost every player on the Port Perry team was stopped at least once on a scoring play. Port didn't break through until the third period when Robbie Brown scored assisted by John Lally and Mike Sorley. Two minutes later Steven Connors got Port's second goal on a pass from Warren Geer. Brad Menzies finished off the scoring with a minute left in the game, with Warren Geer picking up played one of their best passing games of the year. Hopefully, coaches Barkey and Ballingall have finally got through to the boys the importance of team play. The defense also had a strong game, with Brad Traves having one of his best games of the year. The refereeing was more lenient but a definite improvement over the last meeting in Uxbridge. Good work boys! Saturday saw the Green Machine travelling to Port Hope to take on their Atom team. Port Perry totally dominated the game to the score of 8-0. This score was low compared to what it might have been had it not been for the goaltending from Port Hope. The Green Machine once again had a strong team game with some great passing preceeding most goals. The first period was score- less until halfway through when Warren Geer finally broke through the strong goaltending assisted by another assist. Port Perry Michael Sorley.
