Victor Parsons delivered a thought provoking message entitled, "What a World' reading Scripture I John 2: 7-17 and Acts 17:22-31. Miss Laurie Malcolm sang "Follow Me' accompanied by her Mother Mrs. L. Malcolm on the electric organ. A warm welcome for next Sunday at the usual time. Planning Programs On Wednesday afternoon several U.C.W. members met at the home of Mrs. S. Cawker, Scugog Point Road, to plan the programs for 1981. After the meeting closed a social hour was enjoyed over a cup of tea. Evening of Dancing Enjoyed The Bashful Beaus square dance club meets every Wednesday evening at Ontario Street Public School in Bowmanville. Those "kicking up their heels" from Nestleton this past week were Norm and Bernice Mairs, Carl and Jean Adams and Herb and Olive Bedford - an interest- ing evening for all. Caesarea Euchre . Results of last Wednesday evening card party. 1. Betty Ringham with score of 91. 2. Al Cormack with 81. Low Ralph Day-43. A fairly good turnout for the evening. All enjoyed the social time. Aid Meet The January meeting of the Nestleton Ladies' Aid was held in the Church Hall with President Mrs. H. Lee chairing the meeting, extending a cordial welcome to all present. Minutes of the last meeting were read and during correspondence thank you notes for Christ- mas gifts received. The Devotional was in charge of Miss. Ruth Proutt. Mrs. G. Heaslip acted as chairman for the election of Officers as follows: Presi- dent, Mrs. S. McNeely, 1st Vice President-Mrs. F. Dayes, 2nd Vice Pres.-Mrs. E. Hooey, Sec.-Treasurer- .Mrs. G. Heaslip, Pianist and reporter-Mrs. G. Thompson, Social Committee-Mrs. W. Magill, Mrs. H. McLaughlin and Mrs. H. Lee. It was with regret that the resignation of Miss Ruth Proutt was accepted after thirty-nine years of service as Secretary-Treasurer of the Ladies'Aid. McLaughlin, bring- ing the annual meeting to a close. Family News of Interest Bill and Shirley Nicholls, Caesarea were Sunday luncheon guests of Clarke and Avelyn Williams of Nestleton. Daughter Cathy and Steve Bourque and Alexander of Oshawa were Sunday evening guests of their parents Bill and Shirley Nicholls of Caesarea. Tom Nicholls, Caesarea and friend enjoyed a day's skiing .on Friday at Devil's Elbow celebrating the end of exams at Port Perry High. Tuesday overnight guest with Grant and Ruth Thomp- son of Nestleton was Mrs. Vera Goode of Cobourg, a former Port Perry girl. Dinner guests with Norm and Bernice Mairs of Nestle- ton were: John and Diane Slute, Jeremy Jay and Julie Diane, of R.R.R1 Oshawa and Robert Mairs, Steven and Katie of Nestleton. Sam and Mabel Cawker enjoyed luncheon and a visit with friend Margaret Cornish on Friday this past week: ga i Jean Williams, Helen Vine, Debbie and Darlene and Jerry Bowers spent the weekend in Trout Creek visiting relatives and attend- ed a hockey tournament while there. Birthday Wishes Warmest birthday wishes to our good friend Ruth Proutt of Nestleton who had a birthday this past week, but wasn't able to celebrate due to a bout with the flu. Trust Ruth is feeling much better again. She received many birthday cards and phone calls wishing her a happy day, and Dorothy Lee made her a birthday cake which was served at the Church Ladies' Aid meeting. Sympathy Sincere sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson of Nestle- ton, who lost a brother-in-law Mr. Roydon Currie of Beav- erton on Wednesday morning. The Thompson's stayed a couple of days with Grant's sister Mrs. Vera Warmington in Beaverton. The funeral service was held from the Beaverton Funeral Chapel on Friday. Best wishes to Rev. Philip Romeril for better health. Rev. Romeril was a former minister in this charge and his many friends are think- ing of him at this time. Blue Ray Chapter Several members from this area assisted Blue Ray Chapter with the Ontario Federation of Teachers' Dinner held at the Masonic Hall on Wednesday Jan. 21. The food was sumptuous, and after the meal films were shown on Sexual Abuse and discussion followed. Nestleton Presbyterian Church A fair attendance at Church on Sunday Jan. 25 11 a.m. Rev. Fred Swann chose as his theme "The Parable of the Good Samaritan" leaving the congregation much food for thought. Mrs. Shirley Scott played for the service. A welcome to all for next Sunday. Your correspondent is celebrating her second anniversary (Jan. 24) writing the news for the Port Perry Star re Nestleton and Caesarea area. High School Band needs your support The Port Perry High School Parents Association are off and running with the Fund Raising for the exchange trip to British columbia. Kent McKelvey has taken on the job of organizing and running the Giant Auction and Flea Market on Feb. 21 at the High School. Anyone with articles that they would like to donate to the Auction please contact the people in the Ad in this week's Port Perry Star. Some 20 parents have volunteered to help Mr. McKelvey with this Auction Sale. Jack: Dowson, chairman of the T.V. Draw announced today that the tickets will be going on sale this week with the draw for the color T.V. to be made at the Band Concert to be held at Town | Hall 1873 on Saturday night February 21st. Just one month of ticket sales. Howard Hall, chairman of the Band Committee has started meeting with organi- zations to encourage an out- right donation to this B.C. project. Mr. Hall is also - meeting with Council today to hopefully enlist Council's participation in -this com- munity project, as the pupils going are representatives of each ward in Scugog. The Band Committee is very optimistic that the necessary funds can be raised in a month of activities, with co- operation and participation by all Band Parents in parti- cular, and through the generosity of the people of Scugog.
