Irene Train presided. The minutes of the last meeting were read by Secretary Carol Doyle and approved. Communi- cations followed including a letter from Eastern Ontario Provincial Assembly inviting the members of all the Courts to the Provincial Assembly which will be held on April 11 at the Flying Dutchman, Bowmanville. An Activity report has been submitted by the Secre- tary, regarding the Activity Award. The Meals on Wheels schedule was set up: for the month of March. _Treasurer. Dorothy Lee reported on the financial status. The next meeting will be held on April 6th, at Carol Doyle's home in Nestleton. Lunch was served by Shirley Jackson and Karen McEachern and a social time followed. Nestleton Women's Institute The regular monthly meeting of the Nestleton branch met at the Commun- ity Centre, Wednesday, March 4, at 1:30 p.m. The President Mrs. L. Malcolm presided. A cordial welcome was extended to thirteen members opening with the Ode and the Mary Stewart Collect followed by a poem on Agriculture. The Secretary - Treasurer Mrs. M. Firlit read the minutes, Correspondence and presented an excellent financial statement. The Community Memorial Hospital Spring Fair will be held on May 2 at 2 p.m. at Latcham Centre. Mrs. R. Davison and Mrs. M. Firlit are representing Nestleton W.I. at the Quilting Work- shop to be held at Maple Grove on March 18-19. The Roll call - "Little Known Industries on our Doorstep" brought forth many interesting answers. The Motto "Go as far as you can, and when you get there, you will see further," was given by Mrs. R. Programme A sing-song of Irish music was much enjoyed. Mrs. R. Davison presented a paper on "Our Vanishing Farm- land" regarding the theme "Agriculture and Canadian Industries. Mrs. G. Heaslip gave a humorous reading entitled "The Old Roller Towel." Miss Ruth Proutt's worthwhile contribution fitted in with the theme "A Farmer's Creed," and Mrs. F. Dayes completed the program with 'The Indis- pensable Man." O Canada and the Institute Grace brought the meeting to a close. A delicious lunch was served by Mrs. A. Earnshaw's group. Mrs. M. Firlit expressed sincere thanks to all. Next meeting will be-held at the«Commun- ity Centre, April 1 at 1:30 p.m. A cordial welcome to anyone interested in attend- ing. Nestleton Presbyterian Church At the service on Sunday morning, March 8, 11 a.m. Nestleton Presbyterian Church had a fair attendance of worshippers. Rev. Fred Swann read scripture, Matthew 13: 1-23. His message was based on "The Parable of the Sower." This parable dwells on respon- sibility of hearing and responding to the word of God. He who hears the word and understands it, keeps it and uses it to his ability. In the choir Miss Alison Scott sang the beautiful 'I Believe' with her mother accompanying on the organ. A warm welcome to attend next Sunday at 11 a.m. Nestleton United Church On a balmy morning, March 8, 11:15 a.m. the Nestleton United Church had a good attendance for the first Sunday in Lent. Rev. Victor Parsons used as his sermon topic 'Lenten Awareness", an excellent message for all to take home. A trio comprising Bernice Mairs, Gail and Laurie Malcolm gave a fine ren- dition of an old English Air entitled "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say' accompanied by the organist Mrs. L. " Malcolm. Mrs. Ruby Rennie and Mrs. Marjory Beaton were guests at a Bridal Shower in Uxbridge on Saturday for Miss Janice Wood. "Decorating With Imagin- ation" sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food will be held March 25 - 1:30 p.m. in Trinity United Church, Uxbridge: -:-Free Admission. Come and bring a friend! : Our sympathy is extended to the family of the late Mr. Russell Rodd. The funeral is from Uxbridge Wednesday, March 11 at 2 p.m. He will be missed by many relatives and friends. Miss Jennifer Hunter celebrated her birthday recently by entertaining her friends at McDonalds. Greenbank U.C.W. Greenbank Evening group of the U.C.W. met in the lovely home of Mrs. Jean Hunter on March 4th. Mrs. Iva Phoenix opened the meeting by introducing "Hope." She included in her very informative talk, read- ings from several ladies following the theme of Hope. She said, "Home is Our Temple of Worship and for Housewives and Mothers there is Hope in the home. We again enjoyed another duet - "Then I met the Master." After singing the hymn, Solid Rock, Mrs. Helen Thomson presided over the business» meeting. The U.C.W. purpose was repeat- ed. Mrs. Barbara Ward, the secretary read the minutes. Business included the decision to cater to a banquet for Brownies and the Foster 'Family Dinner in April. The U.C.W. members were asked to sing in the Choir for Mother's Day. Too, there will be a Yard Sale in May. Each member is asked to . remember this, when she is housecleaning this spring. Mrs. Helen McKean asked for two ladies to attend a meeting on March 23 in her home, to prepare the U.C.W. Rally to be held in Green- bank on May 7. Helen closed the meeting with a poem "If." Three Gloxinia plants were pre- sented to our guests. Twenty seven members and friends enjoyed a delicious lunch served by Jean Hunter, Doris Hill and Iva Phoenix. Trevin and Mrs. Eileen Jarvis who played their accordians and sang "Till the Storm Passes Over." She then introduced Mrs. Margaret Bruce who lead the Devotions.
