Grant's sisters Mrs. Vera Warmington and Mrs. Alva Currie of Beaver- ton were luncheon guests on Wednesday this past week. A warm welcome home to Mrs. Minnie Fisher, Caes- area, and friend Mrs. Helen Wilkinson of Port Perry, who have had a two month period of relaxation at Ormond Beach in sunny Florida, viewing many places of interest. The weather was rather cool at times but many activities were enjoyed and the making of new friends was a highlight. Mr. Stanley Wright and sister-in-law Mrs. Margaret Wright of Pontypool were recent supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. George Bowers of Nestleton. Caesarea Euchre Results Pleased to report a good attendance and the .prize winners were: 1. Yvonne Prieve with a score of 87. 2. Val Prieve with a score of 86. Low - Evva. Davidge with a 38. Refreshments were served and a social hour enjoyed. To-night (Wednes- day) as usual for a bit of diversion and fun at "the Caesared Centre. attend. Bridal Shower On Sunday, March 15, Dorothy and Barney McCabe of Nestleton hosted -a Jack and Jill shower and buffet supper for niece Beverley Erz of Scarborough and finance Chris Laidlaw of Oakville. Thirty-six relatives and friends were present on this special occasion to' honour the young :couple and shower them with gifts prior to their wedding in May. A happy event and the area offer their congratulations and warmest wishes for future happiness. Awards Presentation Ceremony Jean Williams, Helen Vine and Julia Vanderheul, Nestleton, attended the Bell Centennial Awards preséntation Ceremony at the new Bell Telephone building on Athol St. Oshawa, when Darlene was presented with one share of Bell Telephone Stock for a piece of her art which was selected to hang in their new building.. There -were-24-- winners in all, selected and presented with one share of Bell Telephone stock. Pictures of the group were taken. Birthday Celebration Miss Betty Hicks, Nestle- ton, attended a surprise birthday party for her aunt Sadie Hamilton or Orono, "who was 84 on Friday March 13th. Twenty-two guests were present and a delicious buffet lunch was served after the gifts were opened. Very best wishes to Mrs. Hamilton _for many more. Baby Shower On Saturday afternoon Mrs. 'Glenn Malcolm hosted a family baby shower. Nestleton Ladies' Aid The March meeting of Nestleton Ladies' Aid was held in the Presbyterian Church on Thursday after- noon; Mrs. S. McNeely, President, welcomed all and read a poem on Love. A favourite hymn was followed by Sentence Prayers by each member. Mrs. Shaw in charge of the Devotional Period enlarged on Psalm 118 "This is the day the Lord has made - let us be glad and rejoice init" concluding with _ Prayer. \ Minutes and correspon- dence were read by the Secretary-Treasurer Mrs. G. Heaslip. A thank you from the Magill family for flowers and from Fernie House for a recent donation in memory of Mr. George 'Fernie. The financial report. was received and bills paid. The Roll Call was responded to with explanation of favourite Bible verses. A card was signed for a sick member and cards to second. The money is there. Shaw had prepared a delicious lunch for which Mrs. Davison extended the thanks of the ladies for the good meeting. Visiting A Fapm Messrs. Gary Nottingham and Grant Cawker, Oshawa, the fishing enthusiasts have ~ been haunting Lake Scugog hoping to catch a big one but not much luck! They drop in to the Cawker farmstead for a visit now and then to relate their fishing tales, air their frustrations and possibly to gain a little sympathy from farmer Sam who was an ardent fisherman before he took up the easy life on the farm. PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed., March 18,1981 -- ¢ Senior citizens meet by Marion King The regular meeting of Senior Citizens was held on Wednesday February 25th with a fairly good attendance. We opened. by the singing of O Canada with Aleta Leask at the piano. We had two visitors Mrs. Brekkie and Miss Cox. Win Philp read the minutes of the last meeting which were approved as read. Irene Philip volunteered to be our Secretary until our year closes in June. Byrnsell Webster, treasurer read the treasurer's report. Clara Warren reported the number of cards and visits to the sick and shut-ins. Mary Sweet- man told us of several trips . which are in the near future. Marion King Programme Convenor announced the pot- luck supper to be held March 11 at 5:30 p.m. We will be having entertainment after the supper. Mildred Thompson has kindly consented to convene this event. May Whybrow reported 18 tables of euchre. Mary Clarke reported a lively time enjoyed by the Square Dancers. A letter is going to be sent to Alex Thompson regarding Latcham Centre and the caretaking.
