The Port squad played what could be called their finest game of the season with everyone playing to the best of their ability. The first period was a fast and exciting one with both teams getting many chances and a feeling that the first goal would start the scoring trend. Finally, Karl Durham put the puck in the Woodbridge net to start it off. Jim Abraham and Chris Cook- man set up the play for the first goal. Port struck again early in the second when Willie Edwards won a face- off in the Woodbridge end and he got it back to Doug Dusty who fired it past the screened Goaltender. Woodbridge struck back right away and this cooled Port down only for a second as Jim Abraham made it 3-1 just seconds after the last goal. Ron Brown and Karl G.M. announces 100 new jobs One hundred new jobs will be added to the General Motors Fabrication Plant in Oshawa before August, plant manager Hugh Holland said last week. "The change allows us to not only increase our employment but also to enhance Canada's balance of trade position with the rest of the world," Mr. Holland said. '"The new RIM process has great future potential and has been in the planning stages for 18 months. We acquired the new work by finding a way to perform it within existing floor space, obtained partially by termi- ~nating-radio-production in Oshawa. ~ "In spite of the excellent job our radio department people have done, we must now look to new products with broader future growth potential," he said. Durham did the corner work for the goal. Karl Durham then scored his second of the night that same shift with both Jim Abraham and Ron Brown picking up assists. Mike' Johnson then fired another Realtor goal on a neat give and go play with Boyd Vanderheul. Before the second period ended Ron Brown stole the puck from a Woodbridge 'Hefenceman and scored his first of two on the night to make the score 6-1 after the second frame. Rob Brown then started the third period off after he chased a clearing shot by Bob Goble down the ice and scored with a nice wrist shot to the corner. To finish the Port scoring, Boyd Vanderheul and Mike Johnson again teamed up and they set up linemate Blair Phillips for another Port goal. Port goalie Kevin Cearns played a super game in the nets for Port. The second game of the series was a very one-sided game as Port took control of the game right from the start. Willie Edwards started the scoring out the first shift on the ice, Mike Gibson and Bob Goble picked up assists on the play. Ron Brown then picked up his first of three goals on the night. Bob Goble picked up his second of three assists also on that play. Karl Durham then notched the third Realtor goal with Jim Abraham and Ron Brown doing the initial work. That made the score 3-0 after the first period. The second period was an up and down the ice one until Ron Brown opened it up with line-mates Karl Durham and Jim Abraham gaining assists. Then Willie Edwards deflected in a Brian Dean wrist shot after Bob Goble fed him the puck. Boyd Vanderheul soon scored on a defensive mistake as he knocked in a loose puck. Doug Dusty and Blair Phillips got the assists on the play. This rounded out the scoring for the second frame and Port skated off for a rest with a six goal lead. The third period was an uneventful one, when there was only about ten shots on net. The only one to count for anything was Ron Brown on a neat three way passing play with Jim Abraham and Karl Durham. That rounded out the scoring for the game and Port finished the game with a 7-0 victory also earning Port Goalie Kevin Cearns his second shut-out of the playoffs.
