Ashburn area news Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Daw. They have a. new baby grandson, Michael Daw. The proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. James Daw of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fisher accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Mansel Gerrow enjoyed a trip to Florida, where they visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lynde at Alcon and Mrs. Dorothy Tunney at Kissimmee and other friends. The March Ladies Bible Class meeting was held in the church parlour. The president Catherine Humphrey opened with a worship service that was very fitting for the times we live in. The program was given by Margaret Davis, who, following along the line of the usual women of the Bible studies, gave a very interesting and helpful account of the life of Martha. The next meeting will be at Bernice Gardners home. It is good to have Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Emm home after they spent part of the winter in Florida. We are glad to report Mr. Nelson Ashton is home from Dr. Ruddy Hospital, also Mr. Bill Hopkins is home from Port Perry Hospital. The Kirk guild sponsored a casserole cooking school on Saturday morning, March 21st, under the very capable leadership of Effie Parrott and Ruby Bryant. A number of delicious casseroles were prepared, and at noon we all sat down, to a lovely lunch sampling all the casseroles and salads. There was also delicious. desserts. Bible study was held at the . home of Mr. and Mrsv E. Humphrey last Tuesday evening with Mrs. John McKinney as leader. The next one will be April 7th and everyone is welcome. Also Mr. and Mrs. Allan Bonnell and Donna of Scarborough. There was a good turn-out at the euchre party at the Centennial Centre last Thursday night. Ross was the second son of the late Charles Edward Hurren and Mrs. Annie Archer. . He is survived by his wife Ann (Wilson) and 3 year old daughter Hall, a brother Earl of Bethany, a sister Joyce Packer of Pefferlaw and a brother Ronnie of Lindsay. He will be sadly issed as well by father and mother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wilson and in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Jim Beggs and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Carman Brown and family. Funeral services were held at the Mackey Funeral parlours in Lindsay with Reverend Arthur Rodgers providing a comforthing message for the bereaved. Interment was held at the family plot in Yelverton United Church Cemetery. The bearers were all close friends of the deceased - Messrs. Mike Hughes, Harold Hogel, Bill Gilmer, Dave McReelis, Harry Langkaer and Eldon Herchfield. ; Ross, a talented mechanic was an employee of General Motors in Oshawa until illness forced him to quit.
