On Thursday "afternoon March 19th a form of cancer claimed Ross after a valiant if futile fight of only eight months following its first detection. Ross was an excellent neighbour - a genial host and meticulous in everything he touched and a perfec- tionist in everything he went at - a gifted mechanic and jack-of-all trades, master of all. He was a devoted husband to wife Ann (formerly Wilson) and a fond loving father to their 3-year old daughter Hally. Deepest sympathy is extended to Ann and Hally, his mother Mrs. Annie Archer, brothers Earl and Ronnie and sister Joyce. Ross will be sadly missed by a wide range of friends and acquaintances, both young and old from many walks of life. His cheery friendly manner and outgoing personality will leave a void in the many "lives he touched in passing - a greater tribute hath no 'man! - On Saturday evening April 18th "a dance will be sponsored by Manvers Minor Hockey Teams at Manvers Arena to raise funds for their team needs. They are fortunate to secure the services of Warren Sutcliffe and band for the evening. Tickets are going fast but still available by phoning 277-2463. The teams deserve the financial support of area residents in their efforts to be self supporting. Congratulations are extended to Mr. John Eakins MPP who was re-elected to represent Victoria- Haliburton in the next provincial parliament. Mr. Art Field was if you'll pardon the expression way out in "Left field" when the returns came in-managing only a token vote as compared to his rivals.
