Roll call was answered by 18 members and 5 visitors. Motto by Helen Hortop "In Spring, We Remember." Mrs. Morrow gave a reading "I'm fine." Betty Ann Freeman read the minutes of the previous meeting, also all corres- pondence. Connie Haigh gave the financial report. We were most pleased to have two of our 4-H gir)s present to receive their plaques from the President. They have received their Provincial Honors. Congratulations to Leanne Doupe and Kathy Chandler. A gift of appreciation was also given "to our two faithful 4-H leaders, Helen Hortop and . Anne Chandler.. Achieve- "ment Day will be Saturday April 25th. Madaline Cawker reported on the meeting of the District at Brooklin. Obituary ASA (ESTHER) ELLEN JANE CARNOCHAN In failing health the, past five months, Carnochan, age 69, passed away at, Bowmanville: Memorial Hospital on March 29, 1981. Born in Manvers Township on June 29, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Trick and Mary Glenney." Married on the 7th of August 1932, to Grant _Carnochan and resided most of her life in the Burketon area. Surviving are her daughters, Ruth McCullough of Burketon, Audrey Brown of Cadmus and an son, Lawrence of Oshawa. She also leaves a sister, Ruby "Stephenson of Bowmanville and her aunt Selena Lavery, who resided with her the past - twenty years. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The junior choir sang "My Heart is Running Over," and the children's story was told by Ray. Porter. The Bible readings were given by Arnold Ashton and Margaret Davis. Chrissie McKinney gave the message and . Catherine - Hymphrey 'sang '"'Great is Thy Faithfullness,"" and Theo Knight led in the pastoral prayer. It was a good and enjoyable service. Next Sunday will be a special Palm Sunday Service On Sunday evening the Ashburn branch of the W.M.S. held their spring thank offering service. Bernice Gardner, president conducted the meeting and used the Easter service from the glad tidings for the opening devotion, with members of the group reading the bible readings and prayers. Mrs. Sandy Duffy of Little Britain sang several beautiful numbers accompanied by her orchestra tapes. Mrs. Jean Morgan of Brooklin was the guest speaker, and gave a very timely and sincere message. A social time was enjoyed over the tea cups and fresh apple pie and cheese. The sympathy of the com- 'munity is extended to Mr. Russell Richardson and EE tA family in the death of Mr. Jo. Richardson formerly of- Hurst. Funeral service was held at the Carson Funeral .Home on Monday. . A happy birthday to Mr. James Ormiston who celebrated his 90th birthday 'with friends and relatives at Fairview Lodge last Saturday. 'Mr. Ormiston is well known in our com- munity for his carpentry work. Many of us remember when Mr. Ormiston and the late Norman Anderson built a ceiling in the old church. Mrs. Jo Bryant and little son Paul of Prince George, B.C. has returned to her home after having a holiday - with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bryant and family. : Mr. and Mrs. Wm.
