Beacock I hope I never reach a point that I fail to marvel over the 'wonder of spring- time. How very refreshing it is to watch the tulips and daffodils .popping through the earth and the greening of the lawns and best of all - the warm-weather. Saturday evening all the little Brownies and Beavérs proudly - escorted their parents to their annual banquet. the Good Neighbours Group served these special little folks, parents, leaders and honoured guests a delicious roast turkey dinner complete with some pretty yummy- looking sundaes which certainly were a hit with those present. The Good Neighbours Group wish to thank all the young ladies who so ably assisted them with the serving of this banquet. It séems that each of you did a super job and it was most appreciated. We are sorry to report that Miss Una Sleep is still a hospital patient. Hope you'll soon be able to return home. April certainly has had it's share of birthdays in the community so far this month. My little friend Michelle Lavereau entertained a few of her little playmates t6 a party on Friday in honour of her 5th birthday. Happy birthday honey! Saturday, April 11th is a date you should set aside to attend a musical evening at - the Seagrave United Church. Special guests for the evening will be a barbershop quartet from Uxbridge as well as some of our own local top-notch: musical talent. Sounds like it's going to be quite an entertaining 'evening. This is the Lions Club official welcome into the Lions International. Present at the ceremony will be local dignitaries and also representatives of the Inter: national Association of Lions Clubs. The Blackstock Club is starting - off with 33 members from Blackstock and the surrounding area. The club has already had two rund raising events in the form of a turkey roll and a_ dance. At the Charter Night dance a ticket for a free trip to Las Vegas will be drawn. The first few .fund-raisings have met with some financial success and the Lions hope that they can now start serving the community. " The Lion Club will sponsor a youth exchange and has voted to help finance the purchase of a new mini-bus for the area's Central Seven | Association. the Lions are anxious to participate in community activities. Music exam results The music students . of Eleanor Bailéy recently completed the examinations of the Royal Conservatory of Music, with results as follows: - Grade Two Singing: Melanie Lee - 74 (honours), Brenda Gundry - 73 10% (honours).
