Students will receive their interim reports on April 15th, Port 'High was honoured "this week to host the 11th Annual Durham Regional Science Fair. Almost 200 projects were on display. The varied talents and hard work of the exhibitors were evident among all projects. Several of our own PPHS students received awards for 'their efforts. They were: Intermediate Biology: 1st - Don Clodd and David Laughlin. Their outstanding project also won them the Earth Sciences award. Honourable Mentions: Harry Bolton, Dino Sergnese and Tony Giannini. Physics: 3rd Iris Nimz. Rob Page came up as one .of the big winners: Rob won first place in Physics, plus the Durham College Physics Award. To top that off, his project on Batteries was « » judged to be one of the fair's . tational - top four, winning him a week long trip to the Canada Wide Fair at Waterloo University. Congratulations to all competitors for their fine eiforts. Last Friday, Wynsma, Angela McDonald, - Karen McKelvey, Kathy Nippard and Michelle Newell won the Fourth Annual Lakefield Invi- Mastermind Tournanmient. Not only did the team win top honours, but Michell Newell came in fourth individually, and John Wynsma snatched first place. Congratulations to the' team on a fabulous effort, both as a team and ~ individually. The results from the Annual Port High Writer's Competition are as follows: Senior Poetry - 1.-Bev Hill; 2. Kim placed first and will go on to compete in the All Ontario Competition. A reminder that school letter applications may be picked up in the office: These awards are given out annually for those students 'who earn a set number of points for their participation in the academic, adminis- trative, athletic and club aspects of school life. There are many students who always put out a good effort and who seem to go . unrecognized. The school letter system is one way of rewarding these students for - their efforts. To earn their junior and senior letter, the , students must earn 60 and - 100 points respectively. The At-Home is just overa week away. There is, however, much work to be done for the annual formal. - Help from anyone in grades 9 through 13 would be greatly appreciated. On the same note, tickets are on sale, in the office for $9.00 per couple. Sports: Congratulations to - Port High's Gymnastics Team who did very well at COSSA. Leanne Barclay placed 5th in bars, and Annette Haynes 6th. on vault. Lynette Jackson and Lisa Mussle- man each placed 2nd on beam. Lynette and Lisa will go on to represent Port High at-OFSSA. Max Daigle who resides on Queen St. is beaming from - ear to ear these days he won the Inter school Champion wrestling for Prince Albert school. Max goes to Oshawa, Monday April 13th to try and bring more honours to Prince Albert schodl. You may be small Max but your mighty. Keep up the good show. The last of April and first May will see the Borelians perform in (mixed Doubles. Prince Albert have once again got Gail Glass, Terry Hodgins and Ed Diagle lend- ing the Borelians a hand. Ladies please remember that U.C.W. is on Wed. April 15th at 8 o'clock in the church. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Hirst from Oshawa, spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. 'Bill Armstrong. Mrs. and Mrs. Bruce Snelgrove are home after a 3 ~ months stay in Florida. Sunday April 12, Palm® Sunday was observed at Prince Albert church, Rey. Brawn delivered a most timely message for this ,seasoh. He also presided over new members Dr. Keith Elliott and April and June Bent who each were received by profession of faith, The congregation were also ~ favoured by Bruce Snelgrove on his violin, he played beautifully the Holy City. Myrtle done her usual good job by accompanying Bruce on the organ. Offering was 'gathered by Fritz Dantzer - and Ed Diagle.
