This year's Pioneer Days will be held on May 16 and May 17 and there is a good time in store for everyone. The Scugog Museum build- ings all have their seasonal displays in place. The main room features the turn of the century "General Store" and a selection of Wedding clothes and paraphenalia. The Log Cabin is an ex- tremely popular building. It is set up to reflect the era of 1821 when the first white settler to our area, Reuben settled at Manchester. The Lee House is a one and a half story frame house with artifacts generally dated around 1890. The Print shop houses an early working press that was previously at the Port Perry Star and reputedly, the North Ontario Observer pub- lished in Prince Albert at the turn of the century. There is a new building on the grounds this year and is dated 1900. It is a "Beef Ring" building. In this building cattle were killed and butchered and the fami- lies who had shares in the "Ring" took some portion of the animal which kept these families in beef for a week. Pioneer Days is more than a tour of the buildings. Itis a celebration of a life style that . existed in the last century as far back as the arrival of Reuben Crandell. There are many displays and demaon- strations including butter making cider pressing, baking on the old wood stove, and ice cream making and SEARS Western Capital 53 Trust EY 5 Year Annual Interest Investment Certificates "Subject to Change Without Notice."
