This number included 2 visitors and 4 members who had been absent most of the winter. Therefore it was a pleasure to welcome all back again, The theme for the Devo- tion . was of course '"Mothers", and it was conducted by the group with Mabel Strong, Reta Rodman Marion Carter, Lenore Blueman and Helen Hortop' and Alva Thompson, The Bible mother. was Hannah. The roll call was familiar to everyone except Myrtle Gimblett who therefore did not have a little parcel to put into a box. So Myrtle was even more bewildered when the box was placed before her and she learned it was full of kitchen gifts for her. There was a variety of unlabelled cans. On top of this she was presented with a tablecloth and floral centre arrangement to match. Appreciation notes or messages were received from Mrs. Lillian Eastwood, Mrs. Nellie Miller, and Mrs. Elva Martyn. An invitation was acknow- ledged from the "Grace" U.C.W. to attend their noon hour meeting on June 3 at the home of Mrs. Michell. Just bring along a lawn chair. Then at night we are invited to, hold our meeting in Oshawa with Mrs. Reta Rodman and her sister Mrs. Maudie Travell. Mrs. Reta Wilkinson has returned home from hospital after a bout of virus pneumonia. Mrs. Reta Chandler has been in hospital for a lengthy period with surgery and other ailments. We trust she soon regains her strength so she can return home. Sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Earl (Cora) Heayn, a former resident of the Island who passed away Saturday even- ing. She was a sister. of Herk Barry who also raised. his family on the Island. One of the daughters being Mrs. Norine Leahy who presently lives on the main Island road.
