All the best to the three of you. Just back from a weeks trip to the New England States are Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olsen and with them came their son Ed, home for the summer. Ed has success- fully completed his third vear at the university of New Hamshire. Nice going Ed! Thirteen tables of euchre were filled on Thursday at Prince Albert Hall. Ladies high went to Helen Goslin, second Ruby Tripp and low was Myrtle Gimblett and the men needed the help of the ladies again. Mens High Verna Draper, second Bessie Spencer and low Elwood Tripp well at least one man got in on the show. Next party is Thursday June 4 at 8 o'clock, see you there. Last Saturday May 30 a favourable delegation from the Prince Albert area made their way to Port Perry United Church Recreation Centre for the purpose of extending congratulations and best wishes to Rev. Robert and Mrs. Brawn on the occasion of their silver wedding anniversary. Congratulations Bob and Shirley from all Prince Albert. Holy Communion was observed at church on Sunday. Rev. Brawn pre- sided and" was assisted by Ilean Pugh and Eileen Hodgins, James Martin and Grant Hunter. The nine voice choir ren- dered a new anthem, accompanied by Mrs. Eva Hunter at the organ. Honeydale Women's Institute The Friendship meeting under the leadership of the Public Relations officer Mrs. Mabel Cawker and committee was held in the Municipal Hall Thursday, May 7, with a splendid attendance. President Mrs. Helen MacMaster chaired the meeting and extended a friendly welcome to members of the Shirley Branch as well as other special guests. After opening prelim- inaries were carried out, the Sec'y Mrs. Florence Ellicott read minutes and corre- spondence. Treas. Mrs. Irene Philip gave the financial statement. The Roll Call "How to cultivate friendship". Many interest- ing ideas were presented by the members and visitors. The tea, bazaar, penny sale etc. held recently by the' Branch was most successful. Letters re- appeals for funds were received and these were tabled for the present. A bus trip chartered by Little Britain Women's Institute to Milton Museum is of interest for Jurie 10th. Members planning to go will meet at the Red and White Store at 8.30 a.m. Take along a Box lunch for the noon hour. Beverage will be provided. The Motto "One of the best things in life is a faithful friend" was taken by Mrs. Mablel Cawker. A variety program was a feature of the 'meeting. An amusing read- ing was given by Mrs. Hazel Coates of Shirley followed by thoughts on friendship by Mrs. Florence Ellicott and Mrs. Vera Melton. Two contests were presented by Jean Carnochan to complete the programme. A social time was enjoyed with the member- ship and the many friends attending. _ planning On Tuesday, May 25th, Yelverton U.C.W. held their annual spring bus tour with a full busload, less one-half dozen ladies from our neigh- bouring charge who reneged at the last moment. The event was most successful due to the pre- by U.C.W. 'President Mrs. Ralph (Linda)Pfoh and assistants. It included a stop-over at Reeves Nursery and Tuck Shop and on to Kleinburg where they toured the gallery which displayed the famous paintings of the "Group of Seven" and "others. They also visited the Pioneer Village and gift shops in Kleinburg before moving on to Yorkdale Plaza in Toronto for dinner and a spot of shopping. * They even permitted a half a dozen of our hen pecked Yelverton news hubbies to tag along on this occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kennington and girls have just recently sold their lovely home just east of Lotus to a family hailing from Calgary Alta.
