BR, Fit SAL 3 | 1 ¥ X 1 News from Nestleton by Mabel Cawker Nestleton United Church 'Women Meet The Nestleton U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs. L. Malcolm, Nestleton, on Tuesday, June 9 at 2 p.m. . The president Mrs. S. Cawker welcomed the members opening with 'a poem "The Lamp of Faith" by Marion Taylor Ford followed by a favourite hymn. An excellent Devotional was given by Gail Malcolm in keeping with the study topic. A poem entitled '"'"To-day" was read and hymn 'Lord Speak to Me" was sung. The devotions concluded with a reading "The Child of the Universe." A tribute was paid to the Disabled with an appro- priate article '"The World is Mine." Members answered the roll call by giving "A Natural Wonder of God's Creation."" Minutes and correspondence were read by secretary Mrs. W. Vine and the treasurer Mrs. G. Fish gave a satisfactory financial statement. The president thanked those who assisted with the Church service on Sunday, May 24, also sorting the items for the sale. A discussion was held re- many items of business. Members are reminded to save used stamps during the summer to aid the Leprosy Mission "work and please turn in same to Mrs. R. France. Those interested in going to the Weall and Cullen Garden Centre on July 14, will meet at the Country Store, Nestleton, and leave by car at 4 p.m. For more information call Mrs. L. Malcolm - 986-5527. The study topic "Commun- ications" was presented by the president Mrs. S. Cawker outlining many ways in - which we can communicate with others. The study concluded with a reading by Mrs. R. France entitled '""Ten Commandments of how to get along with people." An interesting contest was conducted by Mrs. W. Jackson. Meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction and refreshments were served by Mrs. W. Jackson, Miss Gail Malcolm and Mrs. S. Cawker assisted by the hostess Mrs. L. Malcolm. The courtesy was extended by Mrs. A. Weir for an interesting afternoon. W.I. Program Planning On Wednesday afternoon several Honeydale members met at the home of Mrs. Mabel Cawker, Scugog Point Road, to plan programmes for the coming year and other items of business were discussed as well. Wed- nesday evening (tonight) for an evening of pleasure. 'Nestleton Presbyterian Church Mrs. R. Davison was organist for the service on Sunday, June 21, 10 a.m. with a fair attendance. Rev. Fred Swann read scripture - Ephesians 2 - Paul's letter to the people telling them that Christianity is for Jews and Gentiles and Faith is a gift from God. During the service, baby Jason David Shaw, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Shaw was baptized. Sympathy Deepest sympathy is extended to the Cornish family, Port Perry, in the loss of a loving husband, father and grandfather Mr. Roy H. Cornish who passed away during the week in Port Perry Community Hospital. Leaving to mourn his loss are his wife Margaret, son Bill and wife Norma, and children Clair, LIBRARY ACTIVITIES Here comes summer! The Children's Department of the Library is plannigg an active program this summer for the children of the community. Starting the summer off will be a Puppet show for all four to ten. year. olds on Tuesday, July 7th. Two performances one at 10:00 and 11:15. There's no charge but you do need a ticket, pick it up at the Library. Wednesday July 8th will be films and fun and registration for the Summer Reading Club. This years theme is 'Come aboard the Book Boat!' Children who like to read can join in the fun. 'What to do when there's nothing todo!' All four to six year olds are welcome to come to the Library every Tuesday morning in July at 10:30 and participate in films, some: stories and games.
