Wylie of Port Perry will address the new minister. 20 YEARS AGO - Thursday, June 22, 1961 Mrs. D. Boyd McGibbon, M.D. graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto. A new picnic area and swimming pool has been opened in Port Perry - Poplar Park is now in operation. Fire Chief Guy Raines and two Port Perry councillors and Port Perry firemen attended a special demonstration on the property of Guy Raines when fire fighting equipment designed for small communities was displayed. A fire in the home of Mr, and Mrs. Robert Midgley, Prince Albert damaged the inside and the contents of their home. Mr. and Mrs. Midgley were away at the time. 15 YEARS AGO Thursday, June 23, 1966 Oshawa Harness Horse Driving Club held their harness race at Port Perry fairgrounds with many area residents attending. Prince Albert Church held centennial services on Sunday with a large congregation attending. Rev. Clifford Smith delivered the sermon and reminisced over the years. There was a friendly get-together at Well Spring Park, Greenbank when the Junior Farmers met with Mr. Cameron Martyn, an overseas exchange delegate for the Junior Farmers. Mr. Martyn is spending a couple of weeks in Ontario. Port Perry High School students constructed a model of the town of Port Perry during the 1900's and have it on display at the school. Epsom area children enjoyed a trip to Flamingo Pastries plant in Port Perry and also went on a trip to the Bowmanville Zoo. Mr. and Mrs. George Charlton, Cedar Creek, drove their horses & buggies in the Oshawa Parade. Mr. Bruce Cummings drove one of his horses and an antique buggy. : About 700 people attended the Centennial Art Show featuring the works of Father Falke, in the old Catholic Church on John Street.
