Such is the case when word arrived among us regarding the passing of Mrs. Don Smith of Uxbridge. The deceased was the former Alice Wagg who with her parents resided in the village a few years ago. The lovely Saturday brought a favourable crowd to the sale of implements and furniture auctioned on the C. Jones farm. Better health is wished Cheryl Pearse after having surgery at Community Memorial Hospital. We are happy for Miss Margaret Brawn who re- cently received her B.A. degree from McGill Univers- ity Montreal. Saturday June 20th was a busy day at Windcrest Farms (Deeths) getting everything ready for the Beef Stew Supper. The weather being perfect over 500 people attended. Hope all enjoyed the food and entertainment. A special thank you is due Ron and Betty Deeth for. their thoughtful generosity in making an evening of this type possible. Thank you to the many extra pairs of hands who assisted, the people who provided the entertainment and everyone who bought tickets. Final results over $2000.00 turned over to the Church Decorat- ing Fund. Work has already started inside getting all the seats removed and preparing for decorating. It is hope all the work will be completed dur- ing July while the church is closed. The Les Beacocks had all their family home on Father's Day and enjoyed picnic food on the lawn. Clark before retire- ment farmed in Cartwright Twsp. about 3 miles from Yelverton. His pride was his fine Percheron horses. In earlier years he frequently participated in Yelverton United Church choir where his fine tenor voice contri- buted to the service in song.
