Port Perry Playground held its annual car wash. We raised a total of twenty dollars. When there were no cars to wash we occupied our time, and beat the heat by washing each other! Thanks to all who participated and a special thanks to those who actually trusted us with their cars. For playday the theme was Backwards day. Ages 4-12 got involved in the Back- wards events and tried to accumulate the most points for their team. For some unknown reason, the favoured event of the day was Pin the Tail on the Leader. The big surprise came when awards were handed out, for the first time the prizes went to the team with the least amount of points. After all, it was Backwards day! The weekly roller skating, swimming and movies were again greatly enjoyed. To round up yet another week of playgroud, we celebrated our car wash success with a popsicle party. This week we begin our big fund raising event, whichis a raffle. Port Playground is raffling a years subscription to the Port Perry Star, which was generously donated by them. So come on buy a ticket, there only 50 cents! -Prince Albert - by Terri Healey The highlight of Circus Week last week was the Magic Show performed by the Prince Albert kids ages 7-12. They had plenty of assis- tance from their enthusiastic audience of 4-6 year olds who ~ knew the magic words our magicians needed - "Abra- cadabra' and "I love peanut butter sandwiches." The kids also spent an exciting afternoon painting clown faces on one another. There was also the usual swimming and roller-skating last week. This week, watch out, there are forty-two braves on the warpath. -Scugog Island- by Kathy Irvine The Scugog Island Play- ground blasted off for the "unknown reaches of outer space' last Monday morning. We made a few planetary stops giving us time enough to reconstruct a spaceship, write, rehearse, and perform a play, and making cupcakes for the parents to eat while watching the production. However, it seemed time flew faster than we did and before we knew it, we had to return to earth. Now, we're on to some- thing new and different. It's Fitness Week. Throughout this week, we've been talking about exercising through calisthenics and sports (and even doing some!). We've also been discussing the importance of good eating habits. Although at the end of each day, we go home tired from the work- out, we know that come Friday when we get our Scugog Island Playground Fitness Badges, that it will be worth it all. * The following week is Animal Week. It'll be full of surprises and funny little critters. Hope to see all you little "monkeys" there. -Blackstock - Happy New Year! At least that's about where we left off in Holiday Week. Unfortunately we ran out of days! We had great fun / i last week, dressing-up and dak acting out things you would do on a holiday. The highlight of the week was the Thanksgiving Day bake sale. Although we didn't -bring in an over-- whelming amount of money, the kids had a great time selling and bartering (and eating) their goods. Blackstock playground is going "Animal" this week. With various "wild" activities planned through- out. A special trip to the the kids went home dry as water flew every- where during the event. . Many hands make light work this group of kids found out last week when they held a car wash at the Port Perry High School. Not one of Bowmanville Zoo will allow the children to enjoy the money they earned at their fund-raising. In closing, a special thanks . to all the parents who co- operated with us this previous week in costumes and baking. 3 Work doesn't scare this little tyke as she cleans the white walls of one of the. 'many cars. . Want your car washed? This is one of the thirty or so youngsters who took great pride in cleaning cars at the playground car-wash last week. 2552005255257 - i 3 -_- 2G ICIC - - To Jo ~ TT Ta DEEGAN Th Thorsry ie 305 QUEEN STREET - PORT PERRY -OPEN - i -_----_------- SSE SEC Car rear ae Ie eae Ie ~ BYAPPOINTMENT ONLY!
